College Essentials

The things you never thought to bring

Going to college can be stressful, and there’s a loooot of things to pack. Here’s some things to make your packing list a little easier...

Large revolving fan- Because dorms without AC are hot as hell

Fridge and microwave- Gotta keep that food somewhere

Beats- Honestly any kind of earphones but my beats are probably my favorite thing ever and earbuds always hurt my ears

Shower shoes- I don’t care how nice your showers are at your school, do you know how many peoples bare grimey feet have been on that floor?

Water bottles- Unless you enjoy the taste of water fountain water, this is a need and you don’t realize how many you go through and how heavy they are until you have to carry them all by yourself

Fuzzy blanket- Does this really need an explanation?

Workout clothes- So maybe you’ll work out, maybe you won’t, but I live in my workout clothes

Blow dryer- For the times you actually want to look presentable and not like you live under a rock

Shorts to sleep in when it's hot- Going back to the fan

Soda- Or iced tea because they’re good chasers (sorry mom)

Over the bed shelf and boxes to put on shelves- This literally was one of the best things I got for college, and it makes your room look really cute

Makeup remover- Because no one likes to break out

Advil- Advil, advil, advil

Single dollar bills- Cabs are so much easier to pay for when you can just whip out $2 in singles

Venmo- For the times you forget your singles

Easy Mac- For the lazy nights where the dining hall is just too far away

Bootie heels- Beer WILL spill on your feet at frat parties and if your feet are covered, it's less disgusting

Phone chargers- They always, always, always break

A Netflix account- There will be nights where you don’t want to go out and Netflix will become your best friend

Duffle bag- Or a small suitcase to leave at school and use when you go visit friends or go home for the weekend

Refillable water bottles- Fill it up in the dining halls and you got yourself some free iced tea

Pictures- Of your friends, family or whoever you give a shit about

Portable charger- Never have to deal with a dead phone again

Going out bag- Gotta have somewhere to stuff all your crap

Slippers- Going to the bathroom in the middle of the night isn’t fun, especially if your bathroom isn’t in your room, and even more so if you first have to put on sneakers

Snacks and breakfast food- You’re gonna get hungry and chances are you're not gonna wanna get up early to go to the dining hall

Rain coat- Going to class after walking in the rain isn’t ideal

Cleaning supplies- Clorox wipes, windex, lysol, vacuum. These rooms are disgusting and need to be cleaned

Tide pods- You’re a college student… Convenience is key

Extra lighting- Bed lamp, makeup mirror that illuminates. Otherwise you’re gonna look like a clown with makeup smudges all over your face

Heavy duty hooks- To hang your towels, picture frames, etc…

Mattress pad- These beds suck, you need something to go on top

Power strip- You literally get like two outlets soooo, you need extra places to plug things in

Tissues with lotion- You’re going to be sick, and you’re nose is going to be red

Microwaveable bowls- To heat up that leftover wonton soup from last night

Chip clips- no one likes stale pretzels

A Fracket- Basically kind of crappy jacket that you can wear while walking at night when you go out. Something that if you lose, it doesn't matter

Chances are you're going to forget a lot of stuff at home, but don't stress… That's what FedEx is for.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
