It’s that time of year again. Another year of college is almost underway, and it’s time to be prepared for term papers and surprise quizzes. Academic supplies are not the only important supplies that are needed for college life. In fact, so many things are needed, such as laundry detergent and toothpaste, that we often forget some things that we need until they are needed. It’s frustrating to have to take another trip to the store because you forgot about some supplies that you need. Well, your troubles are over! Below is a full list that every average college student needs for the upcoming school year!
Bedding:
-Pillows
-Pillow Case Protectors
-Two Sets of Sheets
-Comforter
I have never heard of a University providing bedding, which is a vital part of having a successful year. Who can sleep without pillows and blankets? I know I can’t. A lot of people do not consider pillow case protectors, but these are important supplies. They can protect your pillow from stains and tears. I recommend two sets of sheets because at some point you will want to wash your sheets. It’s easier to already have another set of sheets ready to put on your bed while the other set is in the wash. This is especially handy if you don’t have time to wash your sheets right away. Here is a link to a good college bedding website.
Closet:
-Hangers
-Clothes
Don’t forget your clothes! It’s obvious that clothes are definitely important. A variety of articles of clothing is recommended due to changes in weather inside and outside. Hangers are also important for you to store your clothes in your closet.
Bathroom:
-Towels
-Shampoo
-Conditioner
-Body Wash
-Shower Shoes
-Toothbrush
-Toothpaste
-Floss
-Mouth Wash
-Feminine Hygiene Products (if you're female)
-Antiperspirant
These are all the basic supplies that you don’t want to forget. You don’t want to wake up one morning and go to take a shower or brush your teeth and not have these supplies!
Laundry:
-Laundry Detergent
-Dryer Sheets
-Laundry Basket
-Laundry Bags
At some point a college student will do laundry. It is obvious that you need laundry detergent and dryer sheets. A laundry basket is handy to carry your folded laundry from the laundry room to your dorm. Laundry bags are good to store your dirty laundry without taking up too much room. I have two laundry bags to separate my laundry: one bag is for towels and the other is for clothes.
Storage:
-Storage Containers
Storage containers are definitely a need to help keep you organized! You can label storage containers to help keep you organized such as “medicine drawer” or “Pencils and Paper.” Here is a link with a variety of storage containers for your dorm!
Health and Wellness:
-Excedrin (any type of pain medication)
-Tums
-Sleep aids
-Pamprin (if you're a female)
These are just some basic medications that will be handy to already have. For example, I get really bad headaches so it would make more sense for me to go ahead and buy some medicine for the future. Then when I do get a bad headache I will not have to run out to purchase it. In other words, I will not have to spend unnecessary time to pick up something last minute, and it can be a pain to take a trip out when you don’t feel well.
Luxury Needs:
-Microwave
-Fridge
If you like to have snacks or drinks on hand these are the appliances you will definitely need. If you're like me and you absolutely love tea and coffee, a Keurig may also be useful!
These are just some basic materials that every average college student will need to make their year successful. I pray I have helped ease the stress off some of you by providing a list to help you prepare for the upcoming fall semester
