16 Things You Just Have To do In College Before You Drop Out Or Graduate

I'm currently entering my junior year, and sometimes I look back and think, what have I done the past two years? Am I living my college life to the fullest? Am I taking advantage of all the opportunities I have around me?

I began thinking about all the things I want to do before I graduate to get the full college experience. I realized there are so many things I want to do NOW that I might not have the time or money for after I graduate.

If you're having some of the same feelings I am, this article is for you. Take some of my ideas, get out there, and go try new things you've never done before! Take advantage of every second of your undergrad years.

1. Travel somewhere new

College is one of the few times where you'll have the flexibility and time to travel this much. Check out your college's study abroad options. Go to a country and learn about their culture.

2. Learn a new language

This goes hand in hand with studying abroad. By learning a new language, you'll be able to communicate with the native people of the country you visit. Being able to learn another language isn't also helpful while traveling. You can put this on your resume as well!

3. Read more books

The library at your school is a great resource. So many free books!

4. Learn how to cook a great meal

At most colleges the cafeteria is mainly for freshman. Don't get stuck eating microwavable meals every day after that! Instead, learn how to cook a delicious meal. At my school, the wellness center offers free cooking classes. This is a great way to experience different dishes and even meet some friends along the way.

5. Take a class that you’re interested in

See a class on the registry that peaks your interest but isn't for your major? Yes, your major is important for your career but learning something completely new will benefit you in the future.

6. Get an internship

Internships are a great way to expand your knowledge and learn about what you want in a career. If you love your internship, maybe that gives you a better idea of what you want to do in the future. And if you hate it, have no fear, internships aren't permanent.

7. Protest something

Use your voice! Get involved with activism on campus. This will help you find issues you're passionate about. You can make a difference, you just have to realize your potential.

8. Darty

Day drinking won't be as acceptable after you graduate. You'll be busy with a new job and growing in your career. Who doesn't love a good darty?

9. Use all the student discounts you can

These won't be there after you graduate. Take advantage of your student discounts. There are so many out there. Check them out!

10. Join a club or organization

This is such a great way to expand your interests and make some new friends.

11. Get a credit card

Start building your credit before trying to rent your first apartment or make your first adult purchase.

12. Complete a bar crawl

Get a drink at every college bar in town.

13. Go to a music festival

Once you graduate, you could be in a full-time job or pursuing your masters. So, use your summer months wisely and go to a festival and jam out to your favorite music.

14. Take a road trip with friends

Reilly Nesbitt

Grab a bunch of your college friends, pack into a car, and go somewhere you've always wanted to! Spring, winter, and summer break don't exist when you have a real job.

15. Get a tattoo

Looking at a tattoo you got in college will bring you back to all the memories you made during that time. Get something that means a lot to you or something you just think looks cool!

16.. Have sleepovers with your friends

Reilly Nesbitt

There will come a time when you won't be living with your best friends anymore. Take advantage of having your friends around you and have as many sleepovers as you can! On my last day of sophomore year, my six best friends and I pulled all of our mattresses together and spent the night laughing about all the memories we made that year. This is, and will be, one of my favorite college memories.

Do as much as you can because these four years are going to fly by. Meet new people and try different things. You'll look back on these experiences and have so many fond college memories.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
