Colin Kaepernick is still out of a job.
Many believe that his decision to kneel during the national anthem before NFL games to protest racial inequality and police brutality is the reason he is being "blackballed" by NFL GMs. Yes, he had a 16-4 TD to INT ratio last year, and sure, his 59.2% completion percentage is alright; but he is still a far cry from a starting QB.
Kaepernick's 2016 stats are very reminiscent of Tim Tebow's 2011 season with Denver. Past that season, Tebow caught on with the Jets as a "personal punt protector," a seemingly made-up position which failed miserably. Aside from his "successful season," Tebow never saw a legitimate snap under center ever again. I don't see anyone arguing about Tim Tebow being blackballed for being Catholic.
While Kaepernick is waiting for a phone call at home, supporters scheduled a protest for August 23.
It seems silly that people would protest for Kaepernick to get signed. Teams consistently have to balance financials with talent. There's no question Kaepernick will try to command a salary he sees fit, and whatever that sum may be, teams have no interest to match that unless it is around backup QB money, something he is unwilling to do.
Sure, Kaepernick may be better than "whatever the Jets have," but there's no question the Jets are gunning for the first overall pick in the 2018 draft. Josh McCown is a cheap body to fill a requirement on the roster.
Stop playing the race card people. Everything isn't always black and white.
