Check out these wonderful locations in the city to grab a cup of coffee and fit in a study session:
1. Dollop Coffee, South Loop:
Located just off the Harold Washington Library stop, this ultra-hip café will get you addicted immediately. They brew Metropolis coffee and will make the best Dirty Chai you’ll ever have. Not only is this place decorated super well, they’re always extremely friendly, and spinning the best tunes for a great study session.
2. Bridgeport Coffee at the Hyde Park Art Center, Hyde Park:
Not only is their coffee delicious, but at this location you can sip it while enjoying the art exhibition space. Their coffee is roasted on the South Side, and they distribute it to different retailers throughout the city. In fact, you can buy it at the Whole Foods on campus. Bridgeport Coffee is full-bodied, with a berry-like after taste.
3. Big Shoulders, West Side:
Ever since I tried their coffee at the new café on the Loop campus, I can’t get enough. Their location in the West Loop roasts and brews a delicious and bold cup, and features things like their signature Marshmallow Latte (which I might just have to indulge in).
4. Goddess and the Baker, Loop:
Guys, I want to live here. Their coffee is unreal and their decorative taste is impeccable. Their menu features things like an almond joy frappe, a Mayan mocha, and an affogato (literally espresso poured over vanilla gelato). The perfect place to go when you can’t decide between a cup of coffee or dessert after a delicious meal.
5. The Wormhole Coffee, Wicker Park:
If you dig 80s jams, this is the spot for you. Located in the ever-trendy Wicker Park, this rustic coffee shop brews locally sourced beans, houses a plethora of 80s movies posters, and has rows of delicious pastries.
6. Heritage Bicycles, Lakeview:
Located on Lincoln Ave., this bicycle repair/retail shop turned coffee spot is sure to be a hit. Bring in your bike for a tune-up and enjoy a delicious cup of coffee or quick bite off their chalkboard menus. Again, the interior is adorable-–think antique--and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful.
7. Buzz: Killer Espresso, Wicker Park:
Two floors: ideal for spreading out during an intense study session. Their staff is incredibly attentive and willing to make your drink specific to your liking.
8. Elaine’s Coffee Call, Lincoln Park:
Located right inside the Hotel Lincoln, this quaint but chic coffee shop serves La Colombe beans and sweet and savory pastries. Perfect place to stop before hitting the History Museum or the Lincoln Park Zoo. Look, I just planned your afternoon!
9. Gaslight Coffee Roasters, Logan Square:
A hipster's delight! Picture a rustic but elegant interior with beautiful espresso machines, rad tunes and a kind staff. They sell their coffee throughout the city, so if you don’t feel like making the trek to Logan Square, you can find them at several restaurants and cafes throughout the city.
10. The Coffee Studio, Andersonville:
The Coffee Studio brews fresh, local Intelligentsia beans and honestly looks like a bar from the 60s. Beyond their delicious coffee, they also sell various coffee tools and products to help you recreate the cup at home.
