I always ask myself, “Why can’t I be like him/her? Why can’t I do easy things in life? Why can’t I do something better for myself and to everyone?” Last time, I talked about the “5 things why you are magnificent.” However, I wanted to bring it up in this article for I have been struggling these days about myself once again.

“Have you ever felt like you have no confidence in yourself? Have you ever felt like giving up on what makes you… you? Did you ever question yourself on why you cannot be like someone else? And did you ever wish you want to be someone better than yourself today?”

Being yourself is what makes you who you are and that is one of the most wonderful things that you can show in this world. Accepting the positive sides of yourself make you spectacular.

In these past few days, I started blaming myself once again for not listening to those good words given to me before. I started comparing myself again especially when it comes to handling tough times, physical appearance, or just as a person. I felt bad about myself sometimes that I do a lot of mistakes and that some people won’t just stop humiliating me for the mistakes I have made.

I realized that there are people who have worst problems that they are facing more than me. I was not so sure enough for myself that I can fight these challenges in life over and over again. However, I kept mentioning that we all people can still stand up no matter what. It is our choice after all – to keep moving forward.

Just like what I mentioned in my last article, “Being strong is an act of showing power in every problems you face. It is when you endure pain. People face their darkest times where they feel like giving up. Darkest times often push you to think that it is the end of your life. You might felt sad, hopeless, worthless, or helpless. However, despite of those situations, you still choose to stand up, because you know that you are and can be strong in facing the reality of life.”

For me, accepting who you are is one of the most powerful things to fight the reality of life. It is hard, we all know that. But many people was able to survive those challenges. We do have our own problems. We have our own complicated situations. After all, loving yourself even though you make mistakes can help you surpass hard times.

Stop comparing yourself to others. We all have different strategies on how to face problems. We all are different, unique, but strong. Just like what I mentioned before about how brave a person is, “Being brave is the ability to face difficult times or challenges. Being brave is the ability to endure fear. You were able to face tough days. You were able to keep on moving despite of your big or small problems. You show your bravery every day and that is why you are wonderful the way you overcome challenges.” Clothe yourself with fierce because who you are is the source of your strength.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
