Soon enough we'll all be drinking hot chocolate and egg nog, baking cookies, blaring Christmas music, cuddling up to watch 25 days of Christmas, and driving around all the lit up towns. For all the Christmas lovers out there, we are officially in the 60's for the countdown till Christmas! We're already more than half way through October, so it's right around the corner! If you live in the Bucks County or Philly area, here are some pretty sweet things you can do this winter to celebrate this wonderful holiday!
1) Christmas Village - Love Park/City Hall, Philadelphia - November 24th to December 24th
Christmas Village is an outdoor holiday market modeled after traditional Christmas Markets in Germany. There are a ton of vendors varying from food, crafts, ornaments, jewelry etc. Enjoy the bright lights covering the city, and of course the giant tree.
2) BlueCross RiverRink Winterfest - 101 South Columbus Boulevard, Philadelphia (under the Ben Franklin bridge) - November 25th to February 26th
Located under the Ben Franklin bridge, this riverfront ice-skating rink is a perfect place to get into the holiday spirit. Skate to Christmas music, and then warm up inside the cabins with hot chocolate (21 year olds - there is a vanilla vodka option), cider, and warm delicious food. There are also firepits and beautiful Christmas trees decorating the entire area.
3) ShadyBrook Farms Holiday Light Show - ShadyBrook Farms, Yardley - open every night from November 21st through January 10th
Ride the wagon, stay in the comfort of your own car, or if you're feeling a bigger party rent your own bus with a large group of people and even drive that through. This light show is acres and acres of over 3 million lights. Before or after, you can hang out at the farm and get hot chocolate and smores and sit by the various fire pits! Here's a video from the website.
4) Macy's Christmas Light Show and Dicken's Village - Macy's, Center City Philadelphia
The third floor of Macy's is transformed into "Dicken's Village" based off of Charles Dicken's A Christmas Carol, and every two hours there is a show combining lights that create a story, music, and narration.
For those of you who have not been to Peddler's Village, it is an adorable, beautiful, village filled with over 70 shops, food venues and a few bars/pubs, wonderful landscaping, ponds, and bridges. During the holidays, they transform the village into a Christmas one. There's live entertainment, complimentary marshmallows to toast, hot apple cider, and of course Santa (who kicks off the festival with a parade). Free admission and free parking!
