Birthday’s, the one day a year that is totally supposed to be all about you. Well, this is unless your birthday happens to fall during the month of December. Because in that case your birthday is swallowed by Christmas parties, decorating trees, and cookie decorating. Don’t get me wrong, I do love my birthday, I just don't like the timing.
Those with winter birthday's really are the luckiest of the bunch. The opportunities for parties is endless, there is ice skating, skiing, and really all the things snow. Who doesn't love a good thrill going down a mountain?
The spirit of Christmas is contagious, therefore, in the month of December (even on Mondays) you can expect Christmas songs to be sang, treats to be made, and shopping to be done. The spirit of happiness and joy is contagious, so on your special day, you can just expect everyone to already be happy.
But having a birthday in the month of December is not all glamorous as you may think, there are many downfalls. To make it clear, no I do not get more presents. Infant, I tend to get ripped off by those who combine the two very important days. And there are also the people who get so overwhelmed in Christmas duties that they even forget about my birthday! Crazy, right?
Now it is both a blessing and a curse to have a birthday three days before Christmas. One of those curses is the snow. Now you see, when it snows in December which it tends to do, it can really put a damper on your plans. Because of this fluffy white precipitation, snow days tend to bless my day with no school. But running parallel to the snow days are the bad roads which really messes with anything I thought I was going to do to celebrate.
I love my birthday and each year I crave the attention of my one special day. Thanks to my family, they shy away from wrapping my presents in Christmas paper and on my day there is to be no Christmas talk. 18 years of being a Christmas baby and yet each year I fall in love more with the month of December just as much as I inch towards hatred.
