Christmas is my favorite holiday without any contest. Though there is always the stress of draining your ENTIRE bank account buying everyone gifts, nothing is better than the coziness of Christmas time. It may be different for those who don't celebrate Christmas, but even then, there are so many amazing deals at all the stores and the streets are lit up with beautiful lights that twinkle on the snow all around, so you can still enjoy the holiday season without actually celebrating the holidays.

My favorite thing to do around Christmas is baking. I think this holiday time is the only time that it is socially acceptable to eat sweets all the time. My mother has a tradition of baking pumpkin bread every year around Christmas time, and I may be biased, but oh my GOODNESS, it is so good. I love the chocolate cake and the sugar cookies. One of my fondest memories of childhood is making sugar cookies in the shape of snowmen or Christmas trees or stars. I would put layer upon layer of frosting and sprinkles until it wasn't really a cookie anymore.

Christmas is also the only time I can wear my plethora of Christmas attire and not be given weird looks on the street. I have a humble collection of seven Christmas sweaters, two pairs of Christmas pajama bottoms, five pairs of fuzzy Christmas socks, two Christmas scrunchies, and two Christmas headbands; a Santa hat and reindeer antlers. I have never felt cozier than when I have a big Christmas sweater on with fuzzy socks and cup of tea, watching a Christmas movie.

This leads me to another reason as to why Christmas is the best holiday: movies. Some of the best movies are Christmas movies. Home Alone is a gem, and you cannot go through the season without watching Will Ferrel scream "SANTA!" in Elf. Any time you turn on the T.V. there is a Christmas movie playing with Freeform's 25 days of Christmas. Though nothing is better the ridiculous Hallmark Christmas movies on Netflix, that you can "watch" while doing puzzles or games.

Christmas music also adds to how amazing Christmas is. I do believe that Christmas song are the only songs that everyone in America knows the words to. Even if you do not celebrate Christmas, the music is playing in every store and every elevator, so no matter how hard you try you cannot escape the cheerful noise. I also believe that nothing stops a crowd and brings people together like Mariah Carey and "All I Want For Christmas".

Christmas is the best because it brings out the selflessness in everyone. It is the time of year that brings family members that haven't seen each other in months or even years to give gifts and share memories. Flying home for Christmas is truly the best because as it says in Love Actually the arrival gate at airports during the Holidays "it's not particularly newsworthy," but there is so much happiness that makes the world seem like it is going to be alright.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
