Child of God,
Reading this article won't help cure your deep thoughts or feelings. But absorbing in God's plan for you and his words of guidance will.
Coming from someone who "thought" I had my life figured out without God at the center of it, I can honestly say that life with and without God are two very different lives to live. I tried to plan my life out, and I was miserable. I was lost in the hope of false happiness, and that's because I didn't know anything else. I was trying to convince myself that the life I was living was the one set out for me. God was as far away from me as the moon, and that was okay because I thought I had control.
I don't think I can begin to tell you how wrong I was. When you put your hopes and dreams in others and not in God, there is no doubt you will be let down. If you have not experienced this yet, or are currently, you know that there comes pain with people. People hurt you. We as humans make choices that lead us down a road of uncertainty and pain.
With God, we can oddly find peace in his uncertainty for our lives. We know that the one thing that will always be here for us is God and his promises to us. He will never leave us or forsake us because God is comfort. We need to start seeing him that way in every decision we make, He is there as our comforting father. We as Christians cannot try to understand his plans for us. The greatest advice my college RA ever gave to me once was:
"If you try to plan your life out, would you truly be happy?"
Looking back on my life in the past year: no. I wouldn't be happy at all compared to where I am at now. I thought I had everything figured out and you probably believe that as well. Once you let God take a hold of your life, everything will fall into place. Maybe not right away, but eventually it will. He has a far greater plan that we could ever try to comprehend. We only know a tablespoon in an ocean of who our God is.
Oh! And not to mention, all of those thoughts in your head right now, those are the enemy trying to steal you away from your God. The enemy constantly tries to find way to take away your happiness and good times. He makes you believe things that are false and makes your mind wonder. He wants you to suffer, and us as humans, who are given free will and power of choice by our God, convince ourselves that we need to suffer. Ultimately, we make up the choice to suffer instead of fighting back against satan. We fall into a pit of consuming thoughts that tell us we are not good enough or something must be wrong with us for our lives to be planning out the way they are. We are taken away from God's word which says, "Come to me all those who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest," - Matthew 11:28.
The devil will try to do whatever he can to pull you into those thoughts. Find your home in God and put your heart into him. Consume his words and trust in his plan for you. Choose to forgive and not have an offend-able heart, you then will have peace of mind. "Make allowance for each other's faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive each other," - Colossians 3:13. People will let you down and that's no doubt but knowing that God will be there for you in the end and as a forever home is something we can take comfort in knowing. Our heavenly father will be there for us even when we turn away from him. He has loved us through the ups and down and will continue to. If there's one thing I hope you take away from this, remember to read into the word and hunger for God. He will satisfy the happiness we strive for and will take away all our fears.
