Let me start off by saying this: I have been telling random people, "Merry Christmas!" mainly because I get really into Christmas around November first. I really don't consider this action "politically incorrect", but I do consider it to be a kind word to say this season. Sometimes it's hard to know what a person celebrates before getting to know them. I think it's wonderful that we can all spread cheer to absolute strangers because of what time of year it is!
With that said, I really do not care if you wish me "Happy Holidays", "Happy Hanukkah", or even "Happy New Year". I will consider it most kind of you to say to me. I don't see why people would get offended if someone wished something different to them, and I will never understand how someone couldn't take others beliefs into consideration sometimes. There are multiple beliefs out there, and I hope that many people will accept Christ into their life in order for them to be in heaven too. Though, I would never be rude to someone who doesn't want to become a Christian.
Then of course there are the funny Christians out there. They believe it's politically incorrect to say Merry Christmas, and they talk like they won't allow someone to wish them something else. There needs to be more thoughts like, "That's nice they wished me a happy holidays, and I hope they know that Jesus is the reason for the season. I also hope they will be very happy this season!"
A message of love, not hate.
In fact, as a child I used to think "Happy Holidays" was cool and all because of Christmas and New Years being back-to-back. To me, it just all got out of the way and was said in just two words. I have always thought that this was the case for why people said this, along with there being Jewish people who celebrate Hanukkah.
For those who prefer "Happy Holidays", I hope that you won't be "offended" when I wish you a "Merry Christmas", and when you wish me a "Happy Holidays", I will say thank you. Unless if you tell me your preference, I won't understand what you celebrate.
Now I encourage everyone to go out and spread some joyful cheer! I hope that everyone has had a very lovely Christmas, and if you don't celebrate Christmas, I hope you had a very lovely Sunday! I want to wish everyone a happy New Year as well, and if you celebrate any other holiday out there, happy holiday!
