Why I Chose To Go To Saint Leo University

I couldn't have made any decision better than this one.

Why I Chose To Go To Saint Leo University

My junior and senior year of high school were very stressful, with teachers and my parents on top of me about picking colleges that have what I want to do with my future, to visit, to find out where they are and to make a decision based on what I can tell from their website.

I looked at schools all around the United States but mostly in Florida because that's where I live. I went on many tours, I've seen a million campuses, but when I toured Saint Leo University, I instantly fell in love when we pulled in. There were so many palm trees, the grass was nice, the buildings were sharp and there was a new academic building being built.

I went on a tour around the university and I loved that everything was within walking distance I could make it to my classes in under five minutes, I wouldn't need a bike or scooter to be able to make it to my classes and have to leave my dorm thirty minutes early. When I was touring Saint Leo, everyone was so nice; everyone greeted me when they walked past us and I instantly felt like I was a lion and knew that this was the place for me.

Even though I still had about five or six months before I could start school, I started telling all of my friends and buying stuff for the apartment I would live in. May finally came around I could put my deposit in so I officially knew I was going to attend Saint Leo University. I made a countdown on my phone, on my whiteboard in my room and I was so excited everyone in my family knew it and even my friends.

Here I am, a junior in college and still loving my decision every single day. It is true when they say "you'll love the person you become here." I love everything about this school; I love how this school changed me into a better person. My parents are so proud of everything I have done at this school and I am too. All of my professors have great connections in the career field that I want to go into and that will help me out in the future for internship opportunities and finding a job after I graduate in 2019.

That's what is so great about Saint Leo; you have personal connections with your professors and they actually know your name to face, not like at bigger schools you are just a number on the roster. If you are a prospective student and looking for colleges in Florida, I highly suggest you look into Saint Leo; you won't be disappointed. The pictures online don't do justice to how beautiful this campus actually is. If you choose to attend Saint Leo, you won't be disappointed. I promise you that you will love the person you become here. It's a small school and mostly everyone knows each other, it's pretty much like you are one big family. Saint Leo is my home away from home and I wouldn't want it any other way.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
