Here are some movies I enjoyed while I was still a wee one. Some of them I've watched since infancy, others I was introduced to a bit later. And some are my friends favorite childhood movies. So if you need a distraction from homework or a break from life, watch one of these!

1. The Jungle Book

"Look for the bare nessecities, the simple bare nessecities, forget about your worries and your strife. I mean the bare nessecities, thats why a bear can rest at ease, with jsut the bare nessecities of life!"

2. Mary Poppins

If you haven't yet been blessed with a "spoonful of sugar," a chimney sweep lesson, Dick Van Dyke, or Julie Andrews, than you're are royally missing. This movie was a staple in my childhood and one I will be sure to pass along to the generations after me.

3. Star Wars

"The force is strong with you," "may the fourth be with you," "NOOOOO," are the coolest pop culture references ever, and they all come from these movies. Growing up with brothers, we all loved and adored jedi and sith alike. There was many a lightsaber battle fought in my living room and I still quote these movies today. And if you're wondering the order to watch the in it goes like this: 4, 5, 6, 1, 2, 3.

4. Land Before Time

I cannot tell you how many times I have watched this movie. Its a pretty cute and slightly scarry movie about young dinasaurs. It also has If We Hold On Together by Diana Ross in it which is always a plus!

5. The Sound of Music

MORE JULIE ANDREWS! If you haven't watched this adorable movie than you need to. It is seriously the cutest. Besides teaching you about a very important time in history, it also teaches you how to do solfedge and be who you are meant to be. It is a timeless classic that shall never die!

6. Star Trek

I would watch Star Trek almost every weekend, when the old movies would show on Saturday or Sunday afternoons. I also love the new ones as well and would reccommend them both. They will always hold a special nerdy spot in my heart.

7. The Little Mermaid

"Sha-la-la-la-la-la my oh my, look like the boy too shy, ain't gonna kiss the girl. Sha-la-la-la-la-la ain't it sad, ain't it a shame, too bad! He gonna miss the girl."

8. Winnie the Pooh / Pooh's Grand Adventure

Both of these are really fun to watch. They're super cute movies to watch with kids but they also hold a much deeper meaning about some of the different types of phycological conditions and dissabilities.

9. Cinderella

Everyone loves the story of the slipper left behind on the staricase, its just classic DIsney. So far I haven't watched a version of the Cinderella story that I didn't like. They're all spectacular and you should do your best to watch all of them.

10. The Court Jester

"I've got it! I've got it! The pellet with the poison's in the vessel with the pestle; the chalice from the palace has the brew that is true! Right?"

11. Beauty and the Beast

You can't help but be enraptured by the story of Belle and the quest to save her father; which includes a prince cursed beast and a beautiful red rose.

12. Lord of the Rings

via">http://giphy.com/gifs/the-lord-of-rings-hobbit-sam... GIPHY

Everyone has to watch Lord of the Rings at some point in their life, its just one of those things. Tolkin's book are absaloutly phenominal and the movies are almost as good. They are a must for anyone who loves CS Lewis or Tolkien or a good, wholseome, genuine, fantasy novel.

13. Parent Trap

This is a hilarious comedy about twins separated at birth. If you want to know some of the best pranks ever - watch this movie. Its a movie you can laugh at the entire way through. So funny!

14. Looney Tunes

Again, Looney Tunes is just one of those things that you need to watch at least once before you die. They're hilarious comedy shorts with iconic american characters.

15. Space Jam

Okie, I've only watched this movie once but it was pretty funny. Its about aliens and basketball and its just one of those things you need to watch; no questions asked.

I hope you find something in here to fuel your nerdy childhood/adult soul. I know they have filled mine since I was very little and I know they will continue to do so!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
