5 Things In My Childhood Closet That Make Me Regret Back To School Outfits

Middle school was a rough time for my closet and I think 2013-2017 was a rough time for a lot of people's closets. With edgy Tumblr fashion becoming popular, none of us stood a chance. My fringe bangs and "fierce" selfies really tied my looks together in my opinion but as for things in my closet, here are five things in my closet that make me regret 2014 fashion trends.

1. Infinity Scarves

The day infinity scarves took over Pinterest was a day that never should have happened. Every girl who had "style" in 2014 had infinity scarves. I, personally, owned 6. They were all different colors ranging from a subtle black to a vibrant and sparkly pink. I even started knitting them myself and let me tell you, they were not cute.

2. Flannels

These paired with the infinity scarves were a deadly combo for the fashion industry. Fall of 2015 really took a hit with these two paired together. What really makes these even worse is that we didn't stop wearing them when the weather got warmer. We just started styling them by tying them around our waists. Flannels were bought as an accessory piece for back to school in the fall but never left when we hit spring and summer and I will never understand why.

3. Colored Skinny Jeans

Okay, maybe this one was just me but I definitely wore colored skinny jeans from 2013 to 2016. They were a key piece of my back to school outfits. I had a pair of royal blue capris that I would pair with a bright pink and orange flowy tank top. That was my back to school outfit in 2013 and I didn't get rid of it until 2016. Three years. I wore colored skinny jeans for three years.

4. Sparkly Shoes

To tie my 2013 back to school outfit together, I added sparkly flats. That's right. Sparkly flats. It gets worse. They were turquoise, floral, sequin flats. Sparkly shoes were definitely popular for longer than they should have been and I wore them even after they went out of style.

5. Galaxy Print Leggings

Finally, my favorite piece from the 2014 Tumblr era. Galaxy print leggings. Galaxy print everything was such a key part of this time period. I had a galaxy print hoodie to go with my galaxy print leggings. I will never understand how we ever convinced ourselves that galaxy print leggings were cute but luckily that trend didn't last long.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
