10 ways To Know You’re A Child In An Adult’s Body

I may be over 18 but I'm still a child

10 ways To Know You’re A Child In An Adult’s Body

I know how to do a lot of things and take care of myself for the most part , but there are still a ton of ~adulting~ things I have yet to handle.

1. You sort of know how to do laundry but still have to ask your mom if a certain pattern can go with light colors

Maybe this is just me. Laundry all around is just a hassle that I put off as long as possible. If I have clean underwear, I can make an outfit work.

2. You can cook eggs but not much else

I might have one dinner recipe in my back pocket but not much else. Coming up with a great meal by creatively throwing together whatever is in the refrigerator: forget it, I'm ordering takeout.

3. You keep your key on a bracelet so you don’t lose it

Seriously, this is the best way to keep your s**t together. You literally don't ever have to take it off, therefore, you never lose it.

4. You hate calling to make your own appointments

Doctors, dentists, so many people to call and I don't want to speak to any of them.

5. Vegetables still gross you out at times

Green beans make me want to heave. No. No, thank you.

6. You can only have fake plants because you kill the real ones

Maybe a cactus is the only plant able to survive my forgetfulness. I can barely feed myself, what makes you think I can take care of another living thing?

7. Silent movies make you silently scream

I want an action packed, drama-filled, comedic genius of a movie, not one I can't even sneeze in without receiving dirty looks.

8. Your favorite movie is made for a ‘younger’ audience

Disney or Pixar have the classic movies. You can't seriously tell me you hate The Lion King, that's sacrilege.

9. Your sense of “on time” is different from other people’s

Fashionably late is sometimes appropriate. Although, if it's a serious job, on-time is a must. At least we know when we can and cannot be late.

10. You don’t pay all of your bills

Tuition, insurance, rent, utilities. There's a lot of things to consider once you become an adult and all of it costs a ton of money.

Being an adult is hard. I think I'd prefer my PJs, popcorn bowl, and "Ice Age" marathon any day.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
