It all started a day I got off of work late. I had my afternoon planned out to a tee. I was going to come home, workout, go get Chick-fil-a, then go to church. I only had two hours between getting off work and church so I had to have a plan about how I was going to get everything done. It was completely necessary. But that day my plans didn’t work out like I wanted them to. I didn’t leave work until an hour later than I was suppose to, I got stuck in traffic, and then I got yelled at by some random guy in the parking deck. Plus I must add that I really hadn’t been having a great day to begin with. So when I realized I was going to get off work late, I knew disaster was coming…I was going to have to skip going to Chick-fil-a. Being the Chick-fil-a expert that I am, this of course devastated me. How was I going to get through my evening without my beloved Chick-fi-a? Well, I just kind of unhappily accepted it and moved on, well of course I also called my Mom and told her how mad I was. My anger about missing my Chick-fil-a was honestly ridiculous, but I learned a lot because of it.
Fast forward to church that night. This was the first time I had ever come to this church, and it was their college ministry night, so I was very nervous. On top of my nerves, I was also quite unhappy due to the Chick-fil-a situation and the fact I hadn’t had a good day. About three minutes into my time at the church that night, a man walked in carrying a huge case of Chick-fil-a sandwiches. Dinner was served. I was ecstatic. Although I had been so unhappy two minutes before, my mood was automatically turned around. Then I went on to be a part of an amazing worship service that really made me reflect on my relationship with God. It turned out to be an amazing night.
At church we talked about being afraid to let God have control over your life and your plans. I have always really struggled with this, so the sermon hit close to home. But I think that God used Chick-fil-a to address my problem with what I perceive as “ruined” plans. When I got off work late, I thought my perfect plan for the evening was down the toilet, and frankly it was, but although my plan was ruined God filled in the gap of what was missing. God brought the Chick-fil-a. I feel like that’s how God works. Your plans may seem like they are ruined, but God will always provide what you need, you just have to trust him. The night of the Chick-fil-a incident God showed me how he provides even for the most minuscule of things, like my Chick-fil-a. He will never leave us or forsake us, and those “ruined” plans might turn out to be the best thing that has ever happened to you.
