Cheesy (But Fun) Holiday Date Ideas

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Holiday cheer, time spent with family, and eating way too much food. The holidays also call for spending time with your significant other. Here are some cheesy, but fun, holiday themed ideas for your next date night!

1. Have your own mini Thanksgiving dinner.

In the spirit of eating way too much food, and already having to celebrate Thanksgiving with your family, your significant other's family, and maybe a couple others, why not add one more Thanksgiving dinner to the list? Plan a menu of your favorite Thanksgiving dishes and enjoy dinner with your special someone.

2. Go Black Friday shopping.

Everyone loves saving money. Black Friday is a great time to save money and have a night of unexpected adventures. Whether you actually buy anything or not, Black Friday shopping is a fun way to spend the day after Thanksgiving and work off some of the food you ate.

3. Bake holiday cookies and share them with friends and neighbors.

Holidays are a time for giving and what better gift is there than holiday cookies? Look up some recipes or create some of your own and spread the wealth when you're done. But be prepared, a flour fight or two may break out.

4. Go ice skating.

To some, ice skating sounds intimidating. Don't fear falling because trust me, you won't be the only one falling. It'll be fun to put yourself out there and try something outside your comfort zone! And if you fall, your boyfriend or girlfriend will be there to help you up.

5. Build a snowman.

No matter how old you are, building a snowman is a great winter activity. Make a snow family, dress them up, the whole nine yards. And don't forget to take tons of pictures to show your work off to all of your friends.

6. Go Christmas Caroling.

Other than making cookies, another great gift is caroling. Go to a local nursing home or go door to door and give the gift of holiday cheer. Even if you aren't a great singer, holiday spirit brings joy to all. Get some friends together and make it a double or triple date.

7. Go to a Festival of Lights.

One of the best parts about the holidays are all the decorations. Find a festival of lights near you and walk or drive around looking at them lighting up the sky. If you're lucky you might even find a mistletoe to stand under.

8. Go on a horse and carriage ride through the snow.

It's in all of those cheesy movies. It's lightly snowing outside and the guy in the movie asks his girlfriend to go outside and there's a horse and carriage waiting for them. Sometimes it's a first date, sometimes it's a proposal, but either way, it's adorable. Make the cheesy movie come to life and plan a horse and carriage ride and snuggle up to your significant other.

9. Watch cheesy Lifetime and Hallmark holiday movies.

Speaking of cheesy movies, the best way to spend a cold winter day is cuddled up on the couch with your significant other and a warm blanket watching a Lifetime or Hallmark movie. You'll laugh at the corny parts, cry at the overly dramatic love scenes, but all in all, you'll have a great time.

10. Drink hot chocolate by the fireplace.

After a day of adventure with your boyfriend or girlfriend, it's good to relax for the night, sit by the fireplace and make some hot chocolate. Maybe listening to some Christmas music, or just talking to each other. It's a simple date idea, but I guarantee you'll have just as much fun as if you were out.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
