To The One Who Changed My Outlook On Life:

Here's to you, my person.

To The One Who Changed My Outlook On Life:
Kasey Opfer

So, let me tell you a little about my person. He has a gigantic heart and I believe a large chunk of it belongs to me. He is by far the hardest-working individual I know. He would give his last dollar to anyone with any sort of significance in his life. He loves so much and so hard that I can hardly even handle it. He puts his family and God before anything, even himself. But this article isn’t even about him. It’s actually about me. I am writing this article to finally explain the positive impact this person has had on my life, and to thank him unconditionally for what I am about to explain.

So for starters, thank you for friendship. I can always count on you to be there through anything and everything. Even when you drive me all the way to Wal-Mart just so I can get some nasty flavored frozen yogurt. Thank you for loving Waffle House as much as I do, and showing me how to cook the perfect scrambled eggs. But aside from food, I’ve been through some petty situations and some heavy situations, and regardless of the matter you’ve been there. You’ve also showed me that sometimes the best support is my own support. You’ve showed me the perfect balance between helping me when help is needed, and allowing me to figure things out on my own too. You’re the one person that can look at me and immediately know what I’m thinking, sometimes even before I do. You’ve showed me what it’s like to be a best friend, aside from the rest of the strings we have attached.

Thank you for showing me the bigger picture. Too often myself and the rest of today’s world get too caught up in the things that really don’t matter. Because of you, I now do not care about how many Instagram followers I have. I don’t care about having the most friends or being the most likable person or anything to that extent. You showed me that all I could really need in life is my best friend, a Netflix show to binge watch, sour gummy worms and your grandma’s rolls. Above all, you taught me what it’s like to let go of the negative things in life and focus on only what you can control, and let God take care of the rest.

Thank you for always staying true to yourself and for allowing me to stay true to myself. I love the fact that no matter what anyone says, what anyone thinks, or what anyone does to ever change you, you are not fazed. You’ve taught me how to stick to what I believe in and never let outside influences have an affect on myself, and my values. You've showed me that if I set my mind to it, I can overcome anything that may come my way. So thank you for helping me to trust my process--God’s process-- as I continue on in life. That’s just it. You’ve showed me how to continue on.

Lastly, thank you for your unconditional love. Yeah we’ve had our ups and downs as any couple does. But like I said earlier, you would sacrifice anything for me and I am forever grateful for you and everything you do. So if anyone has a person like my person, be sure to thank him or her everyday and show them how much they mean to you. Before you know it, they could be gone.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
