They always say that you will "know."
When it comes to dating, buying a formal dress, or choosing a college, everyone tells you "oh you'll just know." Thinking back on how many people that asked me "Why did you choose Central?" my response was usually, "Well they have some amazing programs, a beautiful campus ... etc." You know, the normal college response. Yet, my response should have been "I didn't choose Central, Central chose me."
From the moment a student walks on to campus they feel welcomed and at home. Central greets you with open arms and a smile. They take you on a magical journey called leadership safari where the university makes you feel like you are the only student that matters. The small class sizes make it so your professors know your name and are willing to help you succeed.
From the moment a student walks on campus, there is a feeling that you belong. The UC is open, airy, and has an atmosphere that allows everyone to be to themselves, yet around everyone else. Even if you have a fishbowl you can still see out to the world where every student is walking to get to class. Everything is accessible to you, and you are encouraged to explore. We still find new things on campus everyday.
From the moment a student walks on campus, there is the feeling of what it truly means to be a Chippewa. The phrase "Fire Up!" can be heard echoing everywhere from the academic buildings all the way to McGuirk. It means endless school spirit from current students and alumni. There is not Chippewa that doesn't want to be a Chippewa.
So no, I didn't choose Central. Central chose me. By welcoming me into their school with the kind of passion that made me feel important and wanted. They made me feel like I was an asset to the university and that one day I too could accomplish amazing things just like the distinguished alumni before me.
Ooh Ah you wish you were a Chippewa
