Why Cats Are Better Than People

Why Cats Are Better Than People

Let's be honest, most animals are a lot better than people. One of said animals I find to be better than people--cats. I understand that a lot of “dog” people reading this will want to scream, “NO DOGS ARE WAY BETTER,” and I also agree with that. Both are better than people, and I love cats and dogs the same amount. Now that that’s out of the way, I would like to bring the focus back to cats.

Not only are they ridiculously majestic animals, but they're much better companions than some people make them out to be. They have the cutest meow-makers (mouths) and little peets (paw-feets) ever and all they want is some attention and love. So people who don’t agree with the fact the cats are better than people, open up your eyes, hearts and minds, and let me convince you why they truly are.

They listen to all your complaints and problems when you need someone to talk to:

They give the best snuggles:

They know how to challenge you:

They love you unconditionally, even if they show it in strange ways:

They love napping just as much as you do:

They don’t always know how to handle life (which may bring you some comfort because you don’t always either):

They’re never afraid to apologize when they have done something wrong:

They are easily entertained:

They put up with everything you do to them that you think is hilarious:

They want to do everything with you:

They let you know when enough is enough:

They’re just as weird as you are:

They give the best massages:

THEY’RE THE BEST FRIENDS EVER:

So if all of that did not convince you that cats are better than people, I don’t know what will. But for those who agree with me, I hope this only made our belief more prominent for you. Yes, most domestic cats depend on humans to take care of them, but in a lot of ways, they take care of us too. Whether you need some emotional support, someone to make you laugh, or even to just hang out and/or nap with, cats serve all of these purposes. Not only that, but they love you more than they love themselves, and if they are brought up the right way and treated well, they will show this and never want to leave your side.

You are everything to your pets, and you should show them how much you care for them too. Give them love and affection, because overall, they have bigger hearts than we do. And yes, this entire article may scream “crazy-cat lady” or “crazy animal lady,” but that is a title I will forever accept with pride because of all of the points I have made above. Show your pets you love them! They’re the best friends you’ll ever have and will never ever desert you.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
