So if you're Catholic, into keeping up with the news, or even if you're just on social media daily - you've probably seen, read, or heard about the most recent Catholic scandal that involved 300 some Catholic priests involved in the abuse or covering up of abuse of 1,000 some people, primarily men.
If you don't have a clue what I'm talking about, here's the first in-depth article that I read about it.
Yet the Catholic Church is still beautiful.
How can I say such a thing in so much evil, abuse, & hurt? I can still say that because the foundation of our faith and the sacraments aren't based on man. And no man can change or alter them with their own sinful ways. We don't follow a man, we follow an almighty, all loving and all just God.
Which leads me to my next point: if you think I'm okay with this or trying to brush it under the rug so the Catholic Church doesn't look as bad, you're wrong. While this does hurt the Catholic Church's reputation, it happened, and what happened was hell. The men who are supposed to shepherd and lead us turned violent, selfish and abusive in secret. I can't belittle what was uncovered at all and I'm not here to. I read something from a fellow Catholic followers Instagram saying, that Jesus wouldn't lash out in anger towards this, he wouldn't leave his flock, instead, he would cry for those hurt but stand up boldly and say "no more, never again."
Because the Catholic Church is still beautiful.
And no man's sins can ever begin to affect or blemish the significance of what we have as Catholics - the sacraments, and even more importantly, the Eucharist.
If you are Catholic and are questioning the faith you claim, you can find me on Instagram at @megs1553 and send me your thoughts and questions. If you're grieving and have no one to turn to, once again you can find me. This is a time for those of us on fire for our faith to stand up together as one whole, good community and say "no more, never again."
