As a newly registered Democrat, I have followed the presidential race very closely. I have watched every single debate and have read dozens of articles because I want my first vote ever to be for the candidate I like the best. I can say with complete certainty that it WILL NOT be for the former first lady, secretary of state, and senator from New York, Hillary Clinton. There are so many things about her character and actions that grind my gears, but it all comes down to one thing...She’s a politician.
Like most politicians, Hillary Clinton will say anything (mostly lies) to get elected. She changes her views all the time to match public opinion. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve seen videos on Facebook that show Hillary saying that she strongly supports something that she previously strongly opposed, or vice versa. This wouldn’t bother me so much if she actually admitted to not supporting something, instead of claiming to have supported it the whole time. Everyone makes mistakes, but the least you can do is own up to them...
I’m also convinced that Hillary does not care about her supporters; she just uses them to get the votes and then drops them. Take Super Tuesday for example. Leading up, she spoke so much about police brutality and extrajudicial killings, dropping names like Trayvon Martin, Eric Garner, and Sandra Bland. As a result, she won six southern states, all of which are highly populated with African Americans. Yay, congratulations, yada yada yada. The next thing she does is talk about is how much she supports the auto industry because guess what, that’s where she’s going next. Did she talk about African Americans and their families after Super Tuesday? Barely. She didn’t need to, she already got the votes she needed.
Yet another nasty attempt to get votes, Hillary Clinton uses many deception tactics to gain support for her campaign. In every single debate, she wrongfully and purposefully misrepresents Bernie Sanders' viewpoints and voting record to make him look less credible to the American people. Clinton is even more deceptive with her ties to Wall Street and “yooooge” campaign contributions. When confronted with accusations like these, her response is any of the following: 1) President Obama received more campaign contributions than I did 2) No bank is too big to fail, and no executive is too powerful to jail 3) I supported Dodd Frank. All of these responses, while somewhat convincing, are just talk and flashy statements. Her actions show that she received large amounts of money from corporations and Wall Street, and I am personally offended at the fact that she believes that these tactics will make me or other Americans support her.
Hillary Clinton is such a typical politician, and everything that she says and does makes my blood boil. Because of this, the amount of trust I have in her is the size of Bernie Sanders’ campaign contributions from Wall Street. In other words, nonexistent.
