It's crazy to think how my second year at the University of Arizona is coming to an end. Seems like yesterday I was saying goodbye to my parents the first day of my freshman year, and now I am months away from being a junior. I don't know about you but I am beyond excited to go home to the sandy California beaches that raised me. I love this school and everything it has done for me, but a three-month break from Tucson is exactly what I need right now. Why do I want summer so bad? Here's why.
1. No School.
I have taken some dumb general education summer class the last two summers and I am finally not this summer. Learning is awesome but school can be straight "les miserables." I'm sure I will crush a book or two but not having to meet any deadlines for school makes me very happy.
2. Momma's Cookin'
This is a big one. for a majority of the year my diet consists of Top Ramen, cheese and crackers and Gatorade. The thought of going home and having real meals made for me makes my mouth water. Also snacks around the house will be nice, I am a BIG snack guy.
3. Seeing old friends
Nothing like coming home to see some high school heroes. When you come home from college you really only see the people you want to see, which is great. It's always a fun time to reunite with the #squad and talk about the old days and the current times.
4. Not constantly sweating.
I'm not even a big sweater, but the Arizona heat gets to everybody and sorry, but I will perspire once the temperature reaches the 90's. Sorry to those that live in Scottsdale but living in high's of 78 for a couple months is exactly what I need.
5. Just overall, not being Tucson.
It says a lot about the University of Arizona when so many kids love the school even though it means living in Tucson. Tucson catches up with you though so a break from it is absolutely necessary.
I'm already excited to get back, but I'll be enjoying my time away. See ya in August.
