Can fat cells be destroyed?
Did you know that even when you loose weight, the fat cells where the fat was stored, remain? The fat cells stay there forever, ready to store more energy, and won’t budge no matter how much you may diet and exercise.

Frustrating right?

Yes. The older we get, and the more we JoJo with our weight the more stubborn fat areas we accumulate and the less control we seem to have of our shape. However, there are options that will help you to reduce the fat build up in those stubborn areas.

We used to only know about surgery and liposuction, options for rich people only with plenty of time, as surgery is expensive and requires a long time to recover. And have you ever spoken to someone that has had liposuction? The recovery process isn’t easy, its extremely painful and you really are bedbound for a long time. You may end up with issues eating and with bowel movements for some time too. Worth it? Well, that depends on what is important to you. However, ideally you always avoid surgery.

Luckily for all of us there are now safer and more affordable treatments available that can destroy fat cells. With fat freezing treatment a target fat deposit is reduced in temperature to the point where the fat cell itself dies. Fat cells dies when they fall below 4 degrees Celsius, so by freezing the area to counter the body heat this can be achieved.

Fat freezing was discovered in the 2000’s by medical experts at Harvard. They were researching a phenomenon named ‘Popsicle Panniculitis’, where children got frost damage to their cheeks following too many popsicles. Their research found that low temperatures could damage fat cells without damaging surrounding cells such as skin and nerve cells. In 2010 fat freezing gained FDA approval and it is now available around the world.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
