On The Road: Oaktown To La La Land

On The Road: Oaktown To La La Land

When most people think of California, they think of sunny, surfer-filled Los Angeles or the hippie dippy and foggy Bay area. But, as you drive along California's winding mountainous coast, there is far more to take in: the hidden beaches and cliffs of Big Sur, the small town charm of San Luis Obispo, the peaceful waves of Santa Barbara, and the surfers and smoothies of Malibu are just a fraction of the possibilities for adventure while driving down Route 1.

I was lucky enough to enjoy all of these experiences with my two best friends over a span of two days as we navigated from Oakland to LA by car, taking in as much as we possibly could along the way. The open road, good friends, and no plan except having an awesome time—the perfect recipe for adventure.

Relieve the journey through California's colorful coastline with me.


The wind on our backs, the sun setting as we drove back—I won't forget it anytime soon.
