Father, husband, and entrepreneur Dale Partridge has changed the lives of millions in the United States of America and abroad through his "New York Times" Bestseller, "People over Profit" and his ever-expanding, inspiring, and socially conscience company, Sevenly. Since the development of technology and social media, individuals as well as businesses in the American marketplace have become more socially conscience of worldly events and the people of the world. In his book, Partridge explains in great detail what his seven core beliefs about consumers, innovators, and business leaders are for present and future socially responsible companies. Throughout the book, Partridge displays his knowledge and wisdom of what is needed for a business to be socially responsible through his personal experience of developing Sevenly, and years of market research. With his understanding of the business world and the seven core beliefs, the author places a great importance on helping others in need, yet proves it is possible for a business to be both profitable and socially aware. Additionally, Partridge shows in the novel, as well as through the success of Sevenly, the true meaning of a socially responsible company and why current and future businesses should strive to place their people over profit.
Founded in 2011, Sevenly began with four individuals who all “shared the mission of leading a generation toward generosity,” (Sevenly.org) and strongly believed “people matter” throughout the world. Due to this calling, Partridge and his team began their odyssey to help change the world through starting a company which “bring[s] funding and awareness to the world’s greatest causes.” Sevenly operates on a weekly basis with a number of causes. During each week of the year, a team of Sevenly members works together for one week with one organization to bring capital and awareness to the cause of the week. Similar to the idea of TOMs, of buy a pair of shoes then have one donated to a child in need, Sevenly operates on a much larger scale where “each purchase of Sevenly merchandise results in a seven-dollar donation to the charity” of the week. Rather than just buying, selling, and donating shoes, Sevenly sells pages of men’s and women’s apparel, such as tee shirts, tanks, hats, jewelry, and offers a CAUSEBOX. Closely identical to the ideas behind Sevenly, the CAUSEBOX is a two-way gift between the customer and an individual in need. A customer can purchase a CAUSEBOX and receive quarterly “products from companies with hearts to change the world” and the CAUSEBOX will then donate meals or toys to children battling various types of cancer. Additionally, the CAUSEBOX, just like company Sevenly, and its amazing crew, provides people the tools and funding to truly change the world and inspire future generations within the business world to continue to make the world a better place for all people.
