The Misguided View of the Beauty Community

Three weeks until I officially start my journey into pursuing my dream in the Hair and Cosmetology Field. I have known since I was born to help people and it wasn't until recently that I discovered how I truly wanted to go about pursuing that dream. If you have thought about going into hair or cosmetology, you too, have probably heard the following statements...

"There is no money in hair and cosmetology." "It's pretty competitive so I hope you are good." "Don't you think you might be better off with a "real" job?" "I hope whoever you marry makes enough money for the both of you because you won't be able to raise a family with that paycheck."

Not only are these statements hurtful and discouraging, but they are false representations of what is in store for those who want to explore the world of hair and cosmetology. Not only can you be perfectly financially stable while working in a salon or whatever you may choose to do with your talent, but what about being happy. Life is so much more than finances.

I have labeled this "Bullying Beauty" because the beauty world takes a lot of... garbage. Do what makes you happy, because if you are going to do something for the rest of your life, the value of a dollar will always be a dollar but happiness and passion are priceless. If a bold lip makes you stand a little taller, do it. If you want astronauts to use your cheeks as a homing station with your highlighter, go for it. If you are the kind of person that just likes a little mascara, do you. Makeup is about YOU.

No matter what someone may say to you, especially you guys in high school, What they say and think, it really doesn't matter. Learn to do things for yourself, because, at the end of the day, it's you that needs to be put first. Put your passion first, because I guarantee you that with passion, comes fight. And when you fight for something you love, you can make anything possible.

Keep following me for more info on my journey through beauty school, makeup tips, and tricks, makeup dupes, inspirational rants, and all things beautiful.

With that, "turn your can'ts into cans and your dreams into plans"

Stay gorgeous

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
