This is it, the last summer before everything changes. High school is over, it’s inevitable that you will lose touch with your past classmates, and that you will meet and cherish new people, while still holding the memories you have made after all of these years.
But before you let it all go, utilize this summer, your final high school summer, and make it special. This may be the last chance you have to explore and go on adventures with your friends, this may be the last summer you spend together, make the most of it.
This is my personal bucket list, and there’s something for everyone on here.
1. Travel
Everyone who knows me knows that I caught the travel bug years ago, and it hasn't gone away. This summer I'm travelling to Japan, next I hope to backpack across Europe. Keep your options, and your mind open to new things.
2. Indulge on your favorite hometown desserts.
For most of us, our colleges are out of town. We won't be able to go on a quick walk to Ralph's, or take a drive to the summer's fair for zeppoles anymore, so make the most of it.
3. Do something that you’ve always been afraid of.
I'm afraid of a lot, and this summer I plan on (attempting to) conquering some fears.
4. Watch the sunrise and sunset… multiple times.
I cannot stress this enough! Watching the sunrise and sunset can be the most beautiful part of your summer, and sharing these moments with your closest friends makes it even more special.
5. Movie Marathons!
We all say we're gonna watch Harry Potter for 19 hours straight through but it never happens.
6. Pull an all-nighter.
As middle school as it sounds, the best moments happen when you've been up on a sugar high all night and have deep conversations with your closest friends.
7. Have a bonfire night!
Barbeque, smores, what else could you ask for?
8. Get a psychic reading.
I'm a huge believer in things that are greater than what we can see and I've always wanted to get a reading.
9. Go to an amusement park.
Even if it's your town's makeup of Adventureland! No matter how big or small, you'll have fun wherever you make it.
10. Go to the beach!
It's just a chill place to be.
11. Have a photo shoot.
You will be going months without seeing your best friends, get some worthwhile pictures to make the memories last!
12. Have a picnic in Central Park.
Seriously, it's one of the nicest and coolest places to have a lunch date.
13. Read because you want to, not because you have to.
I've always been an avid reader, so this one is easy for me, but read a book! You'll find the right genre for you eventually and you'll love the escape reading brings.
14. Explore the local places in your area that you’ve never been to just because you’re from here.
There are places on Long Island that I have only heard of from visitors, it's time to go explore the place in which you live.
15. Build a sand castle.
As childish as it sounds, when was the last time you did it?
16. See a Broadway show.
My personal goal is to see Hamilton, but my wallet isn’t prepared for that.
17. Go on a road trip.
I mean c'mon, think of all the places a car can bring you.
18. Find a nature trail.
Go and walk on a nature trail, see everything that you miss out on because of other circumstances.
19. Play a game of mini golf with your closest friends
Mini golf is a classic.
20. Have the time of your life with the people you love the most.
You don't know the next time you will all be together, and it sucks thinking about the unknown, but it gets a little easier knowing that you will be spending so much time with your best friends, so make the most of it.
