My Brother Graduated from Air Force Basic

My Brother Graduated from Air Force Basic Training

So this past week, from Wednesday to Sunday, I was in San Antonio Texas for my brother’s graduation. It was such a great time because my family and I saw my big brother join the military. Now, as I said in an earlier article, I come from a military family. My grandfather was in the Navy, my dad was in the Army, and now my brother is in the Air Force. So we have three of the five branches represented in my family.

As some may know, the Air Force was established in 1947. They were a part of the Army until they said that they wanted some soldiers to be focused on just flying aircrafts. For school, airmen can go to the Air Force academy in Colorado. However, there is a base in San Antonio. This is where my brother went for his basic training.

So we left Wednesday and got to San Antonio later in the afternoon. When Thursday came around we got up at 5:30 am CST and headed to the base. When we arrived we saw some other soon-to-be airmen marching along the road. Keep in mind that the sun hasn’t even risen yet. We would do that for Thursday and Friday because we had to be at the location really early.

The whole thing was beautiful and made me proud to be an American as well as proud brother of an airman. When the march on ended on Friday we got to see some of the planes that were on display around the parade field. We saw a lot of older planes and jets like the F-15, F-16, and the A-10 Warthog. They were all so nice to see and I even got a nice picture with two planes with the headquarters in between the two. After the whole weekend was over, we got on a plane and flew back arriving around 6:30 pm EST.

Overall, it was a beautiful week and the setting was so patriotic and American and San Antonio is a great military. Everywhere we went people would tell my brother thank you for your service and it was wonderful to see. The military is an important and crucial part as to why we have the freedoms and rights we have today. The military is the reason why we are able to exercise the rights we practice each and every day. So to all those who have served whether you are active, reserves, national guard, or retired I want to say thank you so much for your service and we, the American people are very proud of all of you and to the people I know in the military again thank you for answering the call to serve and protect this great country.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
