To The Girl With A Broken Heart,

I’ve been where you are. The boy you loved broke your heart, and you feel like your whole world is crumbling down around you. You think that the pain is never going to end, and that you’ll never be able to love someone again like you loved him.

But honey, listen. This is only the beginning of a journey that will make you grow so much and learn so much about yourself. One day you’ll be able to look back on this moment and remember it without any tears.

You see, hearts break, but they’re meant to be put back together.

Hearts aren’t meant to be broken forever, that’s not the way that God made them. When they break, God gives you the strength and the tools to pick up all the pieces and put it back together again, stronger than the first time.

Yes, the journey isn’t an easy one, but it’s one so worth your while that one day you’ll be able to understand why you endured the pain when you did. The beginning is the worst, and though the pain may seem unbearable, I promise you that you’ll get through it.

Though you have the strength in yourself to put the pieces back together, don’t be afraid to lean on the people around you that do love you for support. Let them be there to comfort you, and never object when they offer to get you ice cream because I promise that is one of the best cures for a broken heart. Eat a dish, or eat the whole gallon, because no one is judging you, and I know that I’ve certainly done it (multiple times!).

Though it may not seem like it, as time moves forward, your pain won’t be as strong, but your self-worth and your self-confidence will be stronger than ever before.

Pain truly does make a girl stronger, and it shows them that they deserve better than the boy who said he would “always be there”. Heartbreak teaches you what you want in a man, and to never settle for one that may call himself a “man”, but really is just a boy.

You realize that even though he may have broken your heart once, he doesn’t need to continue to break it for the rest of your life because he doesn’t deserve that satisfaction. He is nothing more than a bump in the road on your journey to greatness, and one day, you may even be able to look back and thank him for what he did, because it made you a stronger and even more beautiful version of yourself.

So even though it may seem like it now, your heart won’t be broken forever.

And with time, it will heal and take all the pain away with it.

Still, don’t be afraid to cry until there are no tears left, watch as many sad movies and listen to as much sad music as you want, and eat as much ice cream, chocolate, and whatever else you desire as much as you want. Heartbreak sucks, and it’s not easy, which is why they don’t call it heart-healing.

But you are stronger, and you can make it through anything. I know it, because I have too. You are beautiful and you are special, and if he can’t see that, well then he’s just a dumb boy that doesn’t deserve your attention. Keep your head up, because though your heart may be broken now, I promise you, it won’t stay broken forever, and neither will you.

Love,

The Girl Who Survived Heartbreak and Came Out Stronger

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
