We’ve all grown up thinking there are two types of girls on Halloween. I’ll be honest, I only ever thought that there were the girls on Halloween that used it as their excuse to wear no clothes, and the girls that wanted to go against the social norms and wear something completely outrageous. Why does it matter what kind of girl you are on Halloween? Remember when this was a holiday you loved picking out your costume for because you got to walk in the Halloween parade at school? Now, we’ve gone from dressing up for parades to dressing up for parties. In "Mean Girls," we get the idea that girls just wear lingerie and some form of animal ears. There are girls like this, but most girls really do try to be creative for at least one of the nights of Halloween. It is hard not to enjoy a fun-filled holiday without the fear of being slut shamed. Sometimes it feels like a lose-lose situation. Remember, there are other girls on Halloween!
1. Girl who does dress provocatively, but no one including her knows what she is.
2. Girl who hates Halloween, so she wears a shirt saying, “This is my Halloween costume."
3. Girl who is some form of an animal.
4. Girl who tries to be something funny so she usually is a hot dog or banana.
5. Girl who worked on her makeup for four hours and that is her costume.
6. Girl who's Miley Cyrus in the crazy stage.
7. Girl who's some sort devil/angel combo.
8. Girl who's one half of the obvious and weird couple costume.
9. Girl who goes as an emoji.
10. Girl who decided to get super creative and do something new.
11. Girl whose costume is a pun that no one gets.
12. Girl who actually wants to be dressed scary.
13. Girl who actually went out and bought her costume at a Halloween store.
No matter the costume, don’t let people’s preconceptions of girls on Halloween stop you from what you want to wear. Halloween is supposed to be a fun holiday, where you can get ridiculously dressed up, and no one is allowed to judge you. You do you, boo.
