You hear a faint bang in the background, the sound slowly gets louder, the sound scares you, the sound leaves a ringing in your ears. As you hide the corner smothered in the sound that soon familiarizes in your mind as you cover your ears hoping to shield yourself from the reality of what is happening. You feel the hot, salty liquid drip down your delicate cheeks as you start to see the gravity of the situation in front of you. The wall is falling apart, the wall you spent all your time and effort to build, the wall that closes you off from the rest of the world, the wall that leaves you alone in your emotions.
As the sound continues to control your mind it begins to leave you in a panic. Your mind is sent into safety mode as you notice the wall is half of what it used to be. You back yourself away from the sight in front of you in hopes that the wall will magically rebuild itself. You start to run away but find yourself going nowhere as the sound follows you. You turn around as the sound begins to mix with the screams of the people on the other side of the wall. Your tired and bloodshot eyes stare emotionlessly ahead as you watch those who care about you reach out to you. Soon all the sounds around your are drowned out by the sound of your own voice telling yourself to hide. The wall continues to get shorter and you realize that you are stuck on this side and that being alone comforts you, as you prefer to be alone. It is almost gone and you feel as if a part of you was destroyed with it. The fear boils up inside of you once again as you sit amongst the rubble that you created. As the tears continue to paint your cheeks you begin to wonder what the difference is between choosing to be and feeling alone. The rubble builds up around you and the wall is barely there, you begin to feel open yet hollow. The choice is yours; you can either sit with your own fear of what might be or you can turn around to see those who worked so hard to break down that wall.
As all the sounds around you cease to exist, you hear a small voice in your head hinting at you to turn around and see what is in front of you. You slowly turn around and the dust settles among the once sturdy bricks you see that those who have been working so hard to get through to you share the same tear tracked faces as you, they have the same bruises and blisters on their hands for they beat themselves up for you. The journey you have been through has been just as hard for them because the walls you built to keep them out were strong, as it takes a lot to tear those walls down without your help. You find yourself smiling as you can't help but realizing the walls are down.
