Boys and Bags: An Analogy

Your going out bag is basically your booty call.

Boys and Bags: An Analogy

I have always been a girl who’s a little “boy crazy”. As I have grown older, I have experienced the good, the bad, and the ugly when it comes to boys and dating. Boys really do live up to the quote, “can’t live with them, can’t live without them.” But, as I look back on my experiences with them, all that has come to mind is how much boys and bags, yes, handbags, are VERY similar. Let me explain…

The expensive, beautiful bag and your celebrity crush/the guy wayyyyy out of your league:

Leonardo DiCaprio is my Herme’s Birkin bag. I have always wanted one but there is a slim chance I will ever get one. Just like how there is a slim to none chance of me marrying Leonardo DiCaprio, moving into a beautiful mansion in L.A and having 3 perfect children….

Your “going out bag” and the booty call:

This wristlet or small bag that you take with you out at night to a party or the bar is your “booty call” or the guy you hang out with when you go out. You only use the bag when you go out, and never use it during the day. It holds your phone, your money, your ID and lipgloss. It gets the job done, which is exactly what your booty call does too.

Your everyday bag that you love and the boyfriend/friend with benefit:

I love my “everyday” bag. It looks great with every outfit, it’s practical in size, and I like to show it off. I feel the same way about my boyfriend (ok not exactly the same, but you get what I mean). I choose to be with him, just like how I choose this bag to be with me everyday.

Your used, out of season, old bag and the ex-boyfriend:

There is a reason you stop using your old bag, whether it is out of season, got too dirty or old you stopped using it. Just like how you stopped dating your ex-boyfriend.

The trash bag and the mean boys/ boys who catcall:

No explanation necessary, boys who are mean are trash.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
