1. They make you laugh all the time
No girl ever deserves to be down and gloomy when she is around her significant other and I'll be dammed if I ever settle for crying all the time ever again. Laughing is so much more fun and it is healthy...so why would you want it any other way? I've been dating my boyfriend for three months now and I can honestly say I've never been happier. I can tell because I literally laugh all the time! Every time I am with him he has me laughing so hard I am either crying or I can't breathe. (And I know I said I wouldn't settle for crying, but crying from laughing doesn't count!)
2. They are not afraid to be brutally honest with you
Lets face it sometimes we need a reality check. I know, I know it is hard to admit that we need these reality checks, but we do. A man that can tell you how it is(reasonably) is a keeper. Obviously, we don't want your boyfriend to be tearing you down constantly, but he needs to not be afraid to tell you the truth and let you know if you're being a brat or totally unrealistic. It took me awhile to get used to that because I've never had someone who would literally tell me what I needed to hear, but now I couldn't imagine not having it.
3. They love you no matter what
Number 2 leads me right into number 3....even if you are a brat he still loves you. I'll admit that I can be a brat and my boyfriend chooses to love me anyway. He lets me have my moments, puts me in my place, and loves me (more than I deserve). He loves you no matter how wrong you are about something or no matter how far away you are. He loves you even when it seems like no one else does. That love is crucial and it's necessary.
4. He always has your back
Again, no matter how wrong you are he loves you and will always have your back. When it seems like everyone is against you, even the world, he is still there to hold you up. He doesn't make you strong, he just makes you stronger. He has your back physically and emotionally. When that one drunk guy in the bar crosses the line, he has your back. When that one ex just wants to talk shit about you, he has your back. And when the world is just wanting you to have a bad day, he has your back.
5. No matter how much he gets on your nerves, you never want him to leave
I'll be honest sometimes my boyfriend really gets on my nerves, but then again I don't want him to go. I want him to stay. He may get under your skin and just push your buttons to see how far he can push the limit, but you never want him to leave. You especially never want him to leave when he lives 2 hours away. He may be a pain in the ass, but you love him anyway and want to spend forever with that pain in the ass.
Don't just spend forever with a person...spend forever with the love of your life and absolute best friend. That's what it's all about.
