8 Approaches For Boosting Your Confidence When You're At Your Lowest

The second we wake up, our minds start going. Your first thought could be, "Ugh. I really don't want to get out of bed today. Fuck everything and everyone." or it could be, "I'm ready to take on the day." The minute you wake up with one of those first thoughts sets the tone for the entire day.

For those who are having a negative outlook on life and dreading another day of life, it's time to pull off the covers and get your ass out of bed and out the door, and up the road to confidence. Yes, I'm talking to you.

We all deserve to feel our best, but that feeling isn't always easy to attain. Remember, it's a bad day; not a bad life.

Because we all deserve to feel confident all the time, I decided to take it upon myself to share 8 approaches on how to boost your confidence on those bad days. Yeah, that's how much I love you and want you to feel awesome. So for the next however long it takes you to read, sit back, relax, and grab those cookies because you're in for a treat.

1. Look in the mirror and smile.

I know you cringe just as much as I do when I hear, "A smile can go a long way." But, the more I've thought about it and have tried it, this actually does work. When I smile at others, it's a form of politeness from me. but when I receive a smile back, it feels good to know that I helped make that other person smile even if they were just being nice. What if that was the only time they smiled that day?

2. Say, "I'm beautiful. I'm worthy." out loud.

Saying something out loud versus in saying it in your head has two different effects. Hearing those words out loud will lead you to thinking more about what you said, instead of just pushing that thought to the side. If you feel silly saying it because you don't believe, continue. Continue to say this over and over until you believe it. No one should make you feel more beautiful than yourself.

3. Put on your favorite pump up song.

Whether you're getting ready for a night out or a for a night binge-watching Netflix, hearing your favorite pump up song just puts you in such a great mood.

4. Get your sweat on.

Elle Woods said it best..

5. Get ready as if you're about to stunt at your high-school reunion.

You know the kind of feeling we all want to feel at our high-school reunions. Always try to achieve that feeling. Always. Make the haters go, "DAAAMMMNNNNNN!"

6. Name three things you like about yourself.

7. Treat yourself to your favorite food/drink.

I don't think I have to explain this one to you.

8. Take deep breaths.

"Inhale positivity, exhale negativity " I used to use this mantra technique that I learned in my high-school yoga class. In times of anxiety causing low-esteem, I would repeat this over and over until I felt at peace. Try it out for yourself, you might be surprised.

When we're having those bad days, it really can seem like we're never going to get out of that funk. Just keep in mind that those good days will come, but it has to start with you. Before you go to bed tonight remind yourself that tomorrow is a new day and it's going to be a great one. You got this.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
