Body Shaming Doesn't Make You Cool

I can't believe I have to go over this again.

In light of recent events in my personal life, I’m here to bring you another article on why you shouldn’t body shame people. I promise this will probably be the last one, and next time on Glee you’ll get a whole new episode instead of my anger on one very specific topic I’ve already gone over. I’ve just been very angry, which isn’t anything new, but it motivates me so I guess for once my unbridled rage is a positive thing!

For those of you reading that don’t know me in person, I’m chubby. I personally dislike my body, but I’ve been that way forever, even when I wasn’t chubby. I have no issue with anyone who is skinny or fat, and I think that judging someone’s worth based on their weight is an incredibly juvenile thing to do, and using insults such as “whale” is 50 shades of uncool, even if you dislike the person. If you truly feel the need to insult someone you feel disdain towards, use a more clever insult instead of insulting them based on their weight. Even if the person is toxic, it’s just as toxic to use weight as a means to insult someone.

Saying it’s f*cking disgusting for fat people to wear smaller clothes is really rude. People have the right to wear whatever they want, and if you think its gross then whatever - that’s your opinion. But saying they shouldn’t be allowed to wear tighter clothes is very rude and immature. Just because you’re a size 2 or 3 doesn’t make you better or more attractive than anyone who’s a size 18 - and saying that they shouldn’t be able to dress like a Playboy Bunny because they aren’t the same size as you is shallow as heck. A girl doesn’t have to be skinny to be pretty, and your shallow beauty standards are just as gross as you think the other girl is.

If you really think you’re better and more attractive than someone just because they’re fatter than you, you should probably take a look in the mirror and see how ugly you are. It doesn’t matter how pretty your face is, if you have an ugly personality it will shine through and cause people to avoid you. They won’t see you as a pretty face, they’ll see you as a shallow puddle that they should avoid in their sidewalk of life. You need to stop putting others down because of their weight and think about yourself. How can you see yourself as better than someone when you’re such a low person? Think about how your words can impact others and their emotions.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
