In a world filled with so much literature, how do you choose what to read if you don’t read on a normal basis. There are so many great books to read that you will never finish them all in a lifetime. Books have been written for centuries, right now, someone is writing a book, and in the future, books will still be written. There is always a story to be told and believe it or not if the same story is told by two or three people it still won’t be the same because of our interpretations of what we experience. Whether you’re looking for something to inspire you, something to make you laugh, romance or even gaining a new skill, there are countless books for that. All you need is to take some time and pick which one to read. There will never be a shortage of great books. So, how do you choose. Let me tell you of an idea I ran across at a local bookstore

They say life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you will get. But this never stops us from opening a box of chocolates, and diving in. Bookstores, public and school library are challenging people to step outside of their comfort zones and try something different. It’s called Blind Date with a Book. Here is how it works. The bookstore takes a group of books from multiple authors, genres and time periods. They wrap the book so that you cannot see anything but the cover, which displays engaging details about the book, just enough to peak your interest. At that point, you make a choice base on what you want out of your next literary adventure. My advice to someone choosing a book is to think of the type of movies they enjoy, because chances are it is that same genre that will keep them motivated to finish the book. I myself participated in this twice. The first time I read Strangers on a Train by Patricia Highsmith, which was a murder mystery. My second date was House Secrets by Mike Lawson which was a political thriller that blew my mind. Both were great books. I’m grateful for the experience, and because of it I now own other books in the series by Mike Lawson.

Top Ten Benefits of Reading

Reading helps me to escape and also stimulates my mind as a writer. I am usually at my best creatively when I just finish a novel. Of course, there are other benefits as well like building self-esteem by simply becoming more informed about other areas of life. It is a well-known fact that knowledge equal confidence and confidence exudes higher self-esteem. Reading can also reduce your stress levels. You may be stressed about your weight, your finances, your job and countless other things in life. Taking the time to browse Facebook and twitter timelines can distract you’re for a little while. But a well written piece of literature can take the mind places you never imagined. Read more and as always,

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
