Reasons Why I'm Grateful For My Sorority Sisters

My entire life I never thought I would ever be grateful to girls who I call my sisters. I have always been thankful to have two brothers and no other female siblings. I always thought that I would have been too competitive with her or we would not get along because I don't like sharing my things. But, little did I know that I would grow so fond of a slew of girls my age that I loved as much as my family.

As soon as I decided on DePauw, I knew I wanted to go Greek. The recruitment process is strange and intimidating, and you think every upperclassmen girl is the best person you have ever met. You are beyond excited on Bid Day and run with these girls that you barely know or have never even seen before. You are all sharing this excitement that you have been accepted into a house. You are looking around and feeling excited with everyone that is with you dancing and screaming. The night ends and the friendship seed is planted.

Months go by, and it's summertime. All summer you group chat, anxiously awaiting the day you can move back into the beautiful, big chapter house. You text your sisters and tell each other your wild summer stories about work and boys and the usual. Finally you are all together under one roof and sharing laughs and closets. And slowly, without you knowing it, you become best friends. You don't want to spend your time with anyone else. Your everyday plans revolve around each other. Whether it is walking to class, eating lunch, going to the gym, or deciding to take a nap -- you all always are together. Or at least a good portion is always doing something together.

It is the most comforting thing to have a true home away from home while at school. It is such a relief after a long day of school or other activities, to walk in the door and see 15 sisters lying around the informal couches laughing about the most absurd things.

I never thought I would be "one of those sorority girls" that called girls her "sisters," but now that I have lived in the house for an entire semester and been a member for almost a year, I can say that I have never felt so happy. College is such a happy place in general. Aside from the stressfulness of studies and commitments, there is always someone to do something with, and that is really all a person needs. Being in a sorority that increases your happiness makes college life that much sweeter. I could not feel more grateful. #blessed

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
