Since the fall, there has been one celebrity couple, in particular, making notable headlines, but for all of the right reasons. That’s right, it’s Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani.

Honestly, this celebrity couple made fans a little perplexed. A country star with No Doubt front-woman Gwen Stefani? Random to say the least, but it’s actually working quite well, and here are six reasons why:

1. They’ve experienced the same hurt.

Love is never easy. It’s hard work, and both Blake and Gwen are reeling from ugly divorces last year. Both have been vocal about the hurt they have experienced. Both were heartbroken and can completely empathize with one another, knowing just how hard things have been and how hard they’re going to work to avoid repeating past mistakes. They can truly understand what the other person is going through, and are willing to be there and help every step of the way.

2. Their new music.

Both have channeled their feelings, releasing almost back-to-back albums with candid titles—Gwen’s This Is What the Truth Feels Like and Blake’s If I’m Honest, released March and last week respectively. They even recorded a song together, “Go Ahead and Break My Heart,” appearing on Blake’s album.

It’s incredible to see how musicians articulate and channel their feelings into something universally identifiable. The depth contained in lyrics, especially when inspired by another person—whether it is from current happiness or from a hurt so bad they didn’t know how to carry on—allows for their relationship not to be superficial, which most celebrity couples are stereotyped to be.

Gwen Stefani was recently on Chelsea Handler’s new, self-titled talk show on Netflix, where she explained how the duet was penned. Apparently Blake texted her some of the lyrics and asked her to write the rest. Instead of giving into the insecurities that comes along with writing, she embraced it head on and boom, there was the song. I think it’s so inspiring how they were brave individually with their albums and together with a song, not knowing how fans would respond.

3. They adore each other.

Now they’ve taken cute celebrity couple to a whole new level. Blake openly conveys his affection for her, whether it be via social media, having her be his team’s Battle Round mentor on The Voice or in interviews, there’s no denying he is smitten by her. What is even sweeter is that he is star struck by her, thinking she is the coolest girl out there. He thinks so highly of her, and what is even more encouraging, the feelings are reciprocated. Both celebrities openly gush about the other, and their chemistry is undeniable.

When watching their performance of their duet on The Voice, it was really personal and it seemed as if they were the only two in the room. It was sweet to see them jumping out on a limb together, while also showing their affection.

4. They support each other.

Not only is adoration important in a relationship, but support is too. Both have released albums, and both have been promoting the other's work, but not for publicity purposes. Yes, they want their records to do well, but ultimately, they have just been showing their pride in their partner’s accomplishments no matter what. They're the other’s ultimate cheerleader and it is so sweet to see how unafraid they are to express that. Gwen even made her Twitter profile picture of Blake's album cover!

5. They're normal.

Although their situation of being in the public eye is not the norm for the majority of the people in the world, their relationship surprisingly is. The other day, Gwen posted a selfie on Instagram, sans makeup to show off her natural beauty. How did the picture come about? She was just taking a cute picture to send to Blake. It was so sweet and something most everyone does, especially girls. Us ladies like feeling appreciated and affirmed, and when we think we’re looking good, we want to share that with our partner. So later hearing Gwen open up about the reasoning behind that selfie, I immediately was humbled and reminded that celebrities are normal people too.

6. They’re honest and open.

No one is more surprised they ended up together than they are, and they have admitted to it. They aren’t afraid to admit this relationship was unexpected, and that on paper, they are both completely different. However, they are pushing those differences aside and respectfully, aren’t afraid to do so. They also open up about their feelings throughout the entirety of their relationships and the decisions they’ve made, such as writing their song together. They were both insecure, wondering where it was going to go, knowing music is so intimate and personal. They also openly and willingly admit to how much the other person has saved them and now they are on the other side of their hurt, being happy again and having fun with their relationship.

I truly love this celebrity couple and am surprised by how much interest I have in their well-being. I really am cheering on their relationship because they both have come out of really bad relationships but are showing the world you can move on and find hope again, even when you were completely knocked down and winded. I know we have all been there before, and they had to do it on blast for the whole world to see.

So thank you, Blake and Gwen. Thank you for encouraging everyone who is reeling from hurt. Thank you for allowing us to be apart of your journey as a couple. May God bless your relationship, music and fans.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
