It's that time of year again where two of the most contradictory "holidays" occur. We've got Thanksgiving, a popular celebration of feasting and giving thanks for the many blessings in our lives. Then we have Black Friday, a day(s) of pushing people out of the way, spending loads of money, and literally shopping until you drop. Every year, more and more people debate the morality of Black Friday. Although it is a very crucial time for many businesses, many people argue that it destroys the good-hearted spirit of Thanksgiving.
With many stores opening earlier and earlier (some as early as 6:00 pm on Thanksgiving), it makes us question whether or not it's appropriate. One big argument against it is that often the employees that are scheduled to work the crazy hours of Black Friday are then forced to spend time at their job instead of spending time with their families like the rest of us. I have gone Black Friday shopping a couple times in the past, mostly just to see what the hype was about, and I can honestly say that I've never scored anything so incredible that would make me want to go year after year. Then again, I know many adults with kids try and capitalize on the insane deals in order to afford presents for their whole families. I've compiled a list of pros and cons to decide whether or not it's really worth it to shop on Black Friday.
