Last week I celebrated my 21st birthday. As I prepared for the big day, I realized the amazing number of songs that have to do with birthdays. I had never thought about the importance of the birthday playlist. So to help you out on your next day, enjoy this compilation of the best birthday party songs (or at least ones that have birthday in the title).

1. Traditional Birthday Song, For basically anyone that has ever celebrated a birthday.

2. "Happy Birthday" (Beatles Version), For anyone dreaming of a birthday shout-out on the radio

3. "Birthday" (Katy Perry Version), For the person that thinks every day is their birthday

4. "Birthday" (Selena Gomez Version), For the person that wants everyone to know it's their birthday

5. "Birthday Sex," For the optimistic party goer

6. "Happy Birthday" (New Kids on the Block Version), For those fuzzy birthday feelings

7. "It's My Birthday" (will.i.am Version), For the big spender

8. "It's My Birthday" (Mya Version), For the world traveler

9. "It's Your Birthday, B*tch," For the zodiac sign enthusiast

10. "Lisa, It's Your Birthday," For the ultimate "Simpsons" fan

BONUS: This one doesn't have birthday in the title, but no ultimate birthday song playlist would be complete without it.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
