Unless you've made the decision to live the life of an Amazonian rain forest dweller, you're probably aware that Netflix is killing the game. I'm pretty sure even Amish people are sneaking in the occasional Netflix n' butter churn binge these days. The addition of Netflix Originals has really seemed to work out with titles like House of Cards, Arrested Development, Narcos, House of Cards, Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp, House of Cards, and Daredevil, but they may have just outdone themselves with their latest Netflix Original Film that drops right in time to bless us all this holiday season -- A Very Murray Christmas. Yes. Let it sink in. Bill Murray. Christmas. Special. If that doesn’t peak your interest or make you dream of a Netflix sesh in the near future that includes a cup of hot chocolate and a blanket cocoon… then we’re just on the same wavelength, and that’s still cool, except your taste in all things forever is now officially erroneous on all counts.
I know right, how great was that. Who more persuasive than Bill could assemble such a top notch ensemble with the likes of George Clooney, Amy Poehler, Chris Rock, Rashida Jones, Miley Cyrus, Jason Schwartzman, Michael Cera, even Phoenix gets a little cameo in there, plus what's sure to be dozens more making an appearance in what appears to be the Christmas special to win all Christmas specials. The film is directed by Sofia Coppola, who's worked with Murray in the past on Lost In Translation. The premise of the film is that a blizzard in New York has shut down all ways in and out of the city, preventing all the high profile attendees from making it to Bill's Christmas bash. But, always one to make the best out of a bad situation, he recruits hotel employees, and whoever else manages to stop by, to keep the party going.
The special should be making it to your screen come December so hold steadfast. Maybe have yourself a little Murray Marathon this week in preparation, Murray Mondays? Murray Tuesday, Wednesday, every day? The 7 Days of Christmurrs? Alright, I'll just stop there.
Happy Billidays!
