This semester was filled with iconic music moments. It was like a new single came out everyday that had people going insane on social media. Here's just a few songs that helped us get through this semester:
Hotline Bling-Drake
Honestly it would be quite disrespectful of me not to have this song on the list. The song itself became an internet sensation with several memes circulating the web. At one point this song was literally my ringtone (I know, ringtone? so 2008 of me). But, things went CRAZY when the music video came out. The “dance” moves of Drake in the music video had people tilting their heads to the side and heads tilted even more when the internet literally went insane making memes out of the music video. People were overlaying their own music above the clips of Drakes highly questionable dance moves. People were also placing objects in these clips. I know for a fact that after that music video was released people never danced to the song like they did before, you have to do it in Drake fashion.
Purpose- Justin Bieber
Yes I am including Justin Bieber's entire album because it slayed me. JB blessed us with his new album, Purpose, which was released on Nov 13th.This album includes singles such as 'What do U mean' which became a huge summer hit, 'Sorry' which is reportedly a song for Selena Gomez, and 'I’ll Show You'. I’m well aware that many people are not a fan of Justin Bieber but his album has made a huge impact thus far in the music industry. This was Biebers sixth No. 1 album on the Billboards 200 chart. It’s almost inevitable not to sing along to one of his songs on his album. When you need a jam session I recommend giving it a listen.
Hello- Adele
Now this song will slay for eternity, Adele has the voice of an angel. This angel came back into the game with one of the most heartwarming songs you’ll ever listen to. On this track Adele sings her heart out and you can’t help but sing along. Sorry JB (get it), When Adele’s album 25 released late last week her album sales quickly outsold Biebers' album and became the biggest selling album of 2015. We're clearly not ready to say goodbye to Adele.
Jumpman- Drake & Future
Jumpman, Jumpman.... when Drake& Future released their collab mix-tape one of the featured tracks on the mix-tape included Jumpman, an upbeat song that had every college party turnt up. Drake and Future fans came together to get a bit crazy. It seems as if you could never sing along to this song without screaming at the top of your longs, that's how you know this is one hyped song. Cheers to Drake and Future for the collab.
