Big, Blonde, And Beautiful

Accept yourself exactly the way you are.

Big, Blonde, And Beautiful
Carol Lackner

Currently I am big, blonde and beautiful.

I am not a small human being, and I really do not have the desire to be. When I was in middle school I was not the skinniest human being in the world and I got made fun of for it every day. The favorite term for me was "whale;" they would ask me where the rest of my family was and make terrible whale sounds like in "Finding Nemo." And every day it got to me. I never cried in front of them but when I got home I would go up to my room and bawl my eyes out. Then I got to my high school and I was taught to stop caring what people thought about my body and accept it for what it is. Now I realize I have large thighs that I think are similar to the thighs of Wonder Woman, having the ability to rush the skulls of her enemies. I want to be big and tough, not skinny and dainty.

Naturally, I have brown hair, but currently it is blonde. I dye my hair unnatural colors because I want to. People always tell me how brave I am for coloring my hair and I honestly do not understand why. These people say that they have wanted to color their hair for a long time, but somehow don’t have the courage to. Changing your hair should not be a super hard decision, you should want it and just do it. Life is unexpected, and your hair should be, too. It doesn’t take courage, it takes a box of hair dye.

I am beautiful. I am beautiful because I am big and I call pull my own weight around, when people need a strong person to do something I can represent the female gender because I am not dainty. I am beautiful because my hair always changes color, and it is almost never normal. I am beautiful because I do not let anybody push me down for these things anymore, I let them do it for too long and I will not stand for it any more.

I love myself the way I am, yet I do think there are always improvements to be made and I try to make improvements every day. Even though I am big I try to eat as healthy as possible, but when my mother makes home-made goods, you can’t say no every time. I just want everyone who reads this article to know that they are beautiful no matter what they look like. I know I have written about this before, but I think it is so utterly important to reiterate to people. It is such a hard concept to grasp that I hope talking about it frequently will help people understand it.

So change your hair color to something bright, get that crazy tattoo, eat that whole cake, because no matter what you do you will always be beautiful.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
