It's the age that every college student dreams to be. It's the turning point in a college student's life. It's the time to finally be able to go to the bars with friends, to be able to have a half-priced margarita on Mondays, it's the last big birthday to go out and celebrate.
It's scary to think about turning 21. Because after 21, there's 22, after 22 there's 23, and after 23 you're suddenly 30 with a big kid job and a family. It is also the time when you're now a senior in college, or close to being a senior, and you have to plan your life accordingly, at only 21.
It seems that most of the big moments in your life start once you turn 21. It feels as if there are more responsibilities because you feel as if you're finally an actual adult. I guess the feeling of drinking a beer in public can do that to a person.
Turning 21 isn't just about being able to go out and enjoy a nice, cold adult beverage in public. This is the gateway to endless possibilities in your life. This is the first step to actual adulthood. 21 seems like the age when it is really time to start getting your life together and planning for yourself. If you ask most 21-year-olds, they say that it is only downhill from here, there is nothing left to look forward to. That statement in itself is all wrong.
A friend of mine said the other day that the next big thing he has to look forward to is his 25th birthday because his insurance price will drop. As that is something to really be excited about, life shouldn't be about hitting the age of 21 and not being excited about life anymore.
Turning 21 should light a fire in your life to want to keep growing into the best person that you are meant to be. It isn't the time to keep your eyes on the ground because this exciting age has come and past. This is the perfect time to live life to the fullest before those chances are no longer. Take summer trips with your friends, go to as many concerts as you can afford, seize every opportunity in your life that will push you.
21 shouldn't be a scary age or a time for your life to come to a sudden halt because you are climbing up the age chart in your 20s. This is the time to really sit down and focus on your life and pushing it to a limit of success that you are almost uncomfortable with. Keep on rockin' out there, you 21-year-olds, and for those that are close to 25, congrats on the lowered insurance rates.
