College is not something we can walk through easily. It comes with many trials and decisions that can affect the rest of our lives. Coming in as a freshman, it’s hard to get acclimated to making new friends, taking those classes that will only end up giving you three hours of sleep and adapting to the new environment that’s so different from back home. As something that’s been lost to me for a while due to the crazy amount of things that I have going on in college, I decided to reevaluate and put my faith in the Lord, having myself completely rely and pray that he has a plan set out for me, even through the hardest and stressful times college has to offer. Here are some bible verses for any stressed or worn out college student who feels unsure if they can do it anymore.
1. Proverbs 3:5-6
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways submit to him and He will make your path straight."
You may feel that you’re the only one that can make decisions and decide how your path is laid out for you, but little do you know that God already has it laid out. It’s been laid out the minute you were born into this world. Help your decisions be made in the sense that it will enlighten God and He will make your decisions reflect and be the perfect path you were meant to be.
2. Philippians 4:13
"I can do everything through Christ who gives me strength."
One of the most widely known Bible verses around the world, if this is the only one you remember from this article, that is perfect. Take it as your lesson learned. If you lean on God, He will guide you through anything you’re facing and help you prosper and make you stronger. People have a tendency to hide or magnify their own limitations. All things are possible to those who believe. You can see your dreams fulfilled and overcome that obstacle. Even though you may not know how it will take place, or what the plan may be yet, but all you need to remember is that if God is said you can... you can!
3. Isaiah 41:10
"Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Throughout college, we meet and endure so many new friends, some we believe will be in our wedding as bridesmaids/groomsmen and we feel so connected with each other. But one thing that I definitely struggle with is no matter how connected or how many friends I’ve developed relationships with, sometimes I still feel alone and scared. Reading over this verse helps me strengthen and become the happy individual I normally am, knowing that He is accompanying me at all times through every single day. That He is always my right-hand man through my life and that He will bless me and give me a victorious life that I know He has planned for me.
4. Romans 12:2
"Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is-his good, pleasing and perfect will."
College is a time for trials and tribulations. You’re on your own for the first time and want to experience everything. As easy as that might sound, it does end up happening, but we cannot forget to think about how we must remain faithful to ourselves and to our God. Do not give in to the world out of pressure to fit in and feel accepted. God will place you with the right individuals to where you can always be yourself and be accepted.
God has a plan. He always has and one of the biggest things we as humans face is that we are scared we don’t have what we need or God is not truly listening to what we believe what we want. But He is, and once that time comes He will bring everything into perspective and make your path clear. You just have to be patient, strong and never give up no matter what. One day you will look back and all of the hardships and struggles you faced, you’ll realize God was with you every step of the way and that it was all worth it in the end.
