College is tough. Between classes, clubs, jobs and friends, it’s hard to figure everything out. You are expected to make sense of the craziness of college life the second you step on campus, which can prove to be too difficult for some people. It is easy for us to lose motivation, especially when all our due dates land during the same week. It is easy for us to lose sight of what we want and why we strive for a college education in the first place, especially when we need an A on the final to pass that certain class. It is easy to give up hope for our futures and our dreams. Yes, between friends and family, we have support systems all around us, but when you experience stress, heartbreak, anxiety, nervousness, loss and a ton of other emotions, it’s difficult to always find someone to talk to for the right advice.
In the times where no one seems to be helping, try as they might, it’s time to turn to our Lord and Savior. God has given us His set of words for anything thrown our way. The Bible is a daily reminder from God that He has a plan for us and that everything will work out in the way He intended. When you are up at 3 a.m. and need encouragement to keep pushing on, read the Bible. When your best friend is transferring to a different school 300 miles away, read the Bible. When you feel as if the walls are closing in around you and the pile of books doesn't stop growing, read the Bible. Read the Bible, for any reason.
For when you are stressed:
“It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” -- Deuteronomy 31:8
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” -- John 16:33
For when you are anxious:
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made know to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” -- Philippians 4:6-7
For when you start to lose faith:
“But he said, 'Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and keep it!'" -- Luke 11:28
“Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.” -- Psalm 37:4
“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength, they will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow wears, they will walk and not be faint” -- Isaiah 40:31
For when you’re brokenhearted or experiencing grief:
“Always remember the Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit” -- Psalms 34:18
“And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.” -- Peter 5:10
“Bless are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” -- Matthew 5:4
Always remember:
“I can do all things through God, who strengthens me.” -- Philippians 4:13
Peace and prayers be with you all as we tackle the craziness of college and life together!
