9 Bible Verses That Changed My Life

Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. -Psalm 119:105

The following verses have impacted me in one way or another. John 3:16 is the first verse I ever learned. My grandparents would recite it with us every Sunday on the way to Sunday School. Philippians 3:12 is the verse that I think best describes my life and my purpose. These are the verses that I particularly heard God's voice to me, and I hope they impact you as much as they have impacted me.

John 3:16

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life.

1 Peter 4:10

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of Gods grace in its various forms.

2 Corinthians 4:7-12

But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may be revealed in our body. For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus' sake, so that his life may also be revealed in our mortal body. So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you.

Psalm 56:4

In God, whose word I praise-in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?

Luke 19:40

"I tell you," he (Jesus) replied, "if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out."

Romans 8:38-39

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Proverbs 4:23

Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.

Nehmiah 6:3

So I sent messengers to them with this reply: "I am carrying on a great project and cannot go down. Why should the work stop while I leave it and go down to you?"

Phillipians 3:12

Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ took hold of me.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
