There is a reason that the Super Bowl takes the top rank as the most viewed television event of all time and it sure is not for the football. We have all been patiently waiting to see who has given us the best entertainment through commercials and of course the ones who make us question the sanity of the entire advertising industry. So without further ado, I give you the top five best and worst commercials of Super Bowl XLIX.
The Best:
Budweiser, “Lost Dog”
Budweiser knew exactly what they were doing when they threw in an adorable lost puppy that brought a tear to most viewers’ eyes. The sentiment was brilliant, and the puppy was genius.
Always, “#LIKEAGIRL”
Everyone always enjoys some girl power and this Always commercial does a great job of capturing it. Showing off those confident little cuties made for a powerful message.
Snickers, “The Brady Bunch”
Bringing back an old time classic with a hilarious twist is always guaranteed to get a great response. Plus, throwing Steve Buscemi into the mix can always help!
Coca-Cola, “#MakeItHappy"
Turning all the world’s hate into happiness with the spill of just one Coca-Cola bottle? It is impossible not to enjoy this uplifting commercial especially with all the internet hate we see these days.
NoMore.Org
Bringing a remarkable true story to national attention was a clever and tasteful way to spread domestic violence awareness . Not to mention it blew away the awkward “Speechless” commercials aired on ESPN involving famous athletes getting emotional making the whole world feel all kinds of uncomfortable.
The Worst:
Fiat 500X, “Blue Pill”
Trying to play on the idea of erectile dysfunction to provide humor to your commercial is just never going to end well. As expected, it was not funny.
T-Mobile, “#KimsDataStash”
While I appreciate the attempt at bring funny, everyone is sick and tired of seeing Kim Kardashian plastered all over the media and her obnoxious narcissism is starting to lose its humor.
GoDaddy, “Working”
This commercial was just extremely subpar. Not to mention, according to the content of the commercial, their target audience would be “too busy” working than sitting on the couch watching Super Bowl commercials. Not the smartest move, Go Daddy, it might be time to retire the Super Bowl commercials.
Carl’s Jr., “Au Naturel”
Another typical tasteless commercial involving the Hardee’s corporation that features a naked girl showing off a big juicy burger is less than impressive. Also, that girl is no Kate Upton, give it up Carl's Jr.
And for the last and, by far the least,
Nationwide, “Make Safe Happen”
I am all for pulling at the heart strings, but there is a difference between trying to make us tear up a little and trying to ruin our lives. And yes, Nationwide, this one was a life ruiner.
