Summer is finally here! That means it's time for lounging on the beach, backyard barbecues, more time outside, and visiting new places for your vacation spots. There are many places all over the world that are the perfect vacation destinations for any of your travelling needs, from the popular tourist spots to the amazing food to sight-seeing galore. Why not give these places a try the next time you are planning a vacation with your family or friends?

1. Sardinia, Italy

Sardinia is everything that everyone loves about Italy (the food, the architecture, the weather, etc.) combined into one Mediterranean island filled to the brim with beaches and sea caves. One of the most popular countries that tourists love to go to during their vacations is Italy for all those reasons, so give this island filled with beaches a go this summer.

2. Chiang Mai, Thailand

Many people are interested in Asian culture, and Chiang Mai is one of the best places to experience their culture. Plus, it offers a truer sense of Thailand than many of the tourist traps in the country. It's one of the most gorgeous travel destinations in Southeast Asia, and is a cooler alternative to Bangkok, in both climate and general vibe. Chiang Mai is also home to the Elephant Nature Park, where you can feed, bathe, and play with elephants that have been rescued from abusive environments.

3. Basque Country, Spain

Basque Country is the home of lots of nature, art, and a lot of history behind the land. It's home to many beach towns, the Oma forest, and even many locations where "Game of Thrones" have been previously filmed (i.e. San Juan de Gaztelugatxe in Bermeo was the castle at Dragonstone). This is a must for anyone wanting some adventure this summer.

A relaxing and quiet area for those who just want to have a relaxing and not-too-crazy vacation, Wales is the perfect spot for you. It's rich with history, culture, coastal adventures, and lots of leisure places to lounge. It's a small area but with lots of areas you can go for many memorable adventures.

5. Tel Aviv, Israel

Tel Aviv is known for its nine-mile stretch of beaches, but summer is the best time for this destination. It's known for hosting their all-nighter party, Laila Lavan ("white knight" in Hebrew). The event is a 24/7 party at top cultural sites, museums, bars, and restaurants. They also host one of the biggest LGBT Pride parades in the Middle East in June. This area is a must for any summer vacation with lots of fun events.

6. Interior British Columbia, Canada

The summer heat can be tiring after a while, so why not stop somewhere on the cooler side? Canada has the perfect weather during the summer, not being hot year round. Interior British Columbia has some of the most jaw-dropping mountains in North America, and is a great hiking site. It even has many handcrafted beer pubs that are to die for and everyone needs to try at least once.

7. Corfu, Greece

Greece is always a big must for any trip around the world, and Corfu is the go-to destination in Greece that anyone should check out. It's home to many ancient pieces of nature and a rocky coastline and beaches. Plus, the nature flourishes year-round, which is why it's nicknamed Greece's greenest isle. Not only that, but it's in a close proximity to Italy that there are great spots to find great Italian food too.

8. Oaxaca, Mexico

This tourist spot is known for being one of the best food scenes in the world and the champion of mescal. It also has a variety of drinks that anyone should try and some of the best tourist spots that are worth sight-seeing. Oaxaco is also home to Bacocho Beach, where you can spend your lounging and tanning days during your vacation, and Almoraduz, one of the finest restaurants in Central America.

9. Cologne, Germany

The residents in Germany are some of the friendliest in the world, and Cologne is one of the greatest feelings and vibes not only in Germany, but in the world. It's one of the strongest beer cities with many new beers to try and even Germans themselves love vacationing in this town. It also has the best weather, being seventy-five degrees in the summer.

10. Tasmania, Australia

One of the wildest vacation spots in the world, Tasmania is known for its intriguing nature spots and museums, including the Museum of Old and New Art. This area is also known for their Dark Mofo event every June, which is their version of the Burning Man ceremony. Plus, Tasmania is known for interactive art, musical acts and psychedelic costume balls that anyone should check out or participate.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
